Default "Watching The Wheels" vs "Mind Games"

Anyone else ever notice how similar these two songs are in progression? To me they pretty much are the same song, and they're both awesome!

You might like to consult an ear specialist.
To think both songs were the same.

I agree that both songs are awesome... but I find them totally different and they both come from a total different period of John's life.

"Watching the wheels" is a retrospective song, whereas "Mind games" is more about a state of mind (my opinion).

You mean in cord progression? When it comes to lyrics, melody and arrangement they don't seem that alike, at least not to me.

Of course I'm not talking about the lyrics. That's ridiculous. The melodies/progression are very similar in structure. Looks like I'm going it alone on this one! One kind person advised me to get an ear specialist.. Glad to see Links is still a haven of love and goodwill. Proud of you Hib--nice to "see" a friendly face!

If you mean the lyrics you need to write it as well?

"Mind Games"

We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barriers planting seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the Mantra peace on earth
We all been playing those mind games forever
Some kinda druid dudes lifting the veil
Doing the mind guerrilla
Some call it magic the search for the grail

Love is the answer and you know that for sure
Love is a flower you got to let it grow

So keep on playing those mind games together
Faith in the future out of the now
You just can't beat on those mind guerrillas
Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind
Yeah we're playing those mind games forever
Projecting our images in space and in time

Yes is the answer and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender you got to let it go

So keep on playing those mind games together
Doing the ritual dance in the sun
Millions of mind guerrillas
Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel
Keep on playing those mind games forever
Raising the spirit of peace and love
(I want you to make love, not war
I know you've heard it before)

"Watching The Wheels"

People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing,
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin,
When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange,
Surely your not happy now you no longer play the game,

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away,
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me,
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball?

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go,

People asking questions lost in confusion,
Well I tell them there's no problem,
Only solutions,
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind,
I tell them there's no hurry...
I'm just sitting here doing time,

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go.
