I dunno, Tony...that was the size the pic was on the website where I found it. You can probably save it to your computer and then manipulate it to enlarge it, but I can't post it larger, unfortunately.

Still...there ya go, I would be willing to bet that's Tommy in the pic...

If you want it as an avatar, you can ask Jerry, the webmaster...he can tell you if he can shrink it down to make an avatar. Send him a Private Message or an email and attach the photo. Some pics don't shrink down very well, but if he can do it, he certainly will...

You are most welcome, Tony -- I have to admit I don't think I have ever seen this picture before today, but when I went to look at the site FPSHOT told us about I found a bunch of pics from the day of that audition, and the first one was the one AnyRoad had posted with Johnny Hutchinson. The drummer wasn't really visible in most of the other pictures -- except for the one I posted, and it did seem to just be a later shot from the same film. So, if you put two and two together, it stands to reason that it might very well be Tommy. I would be interested very much to know if you can confirm that it is!

This has been very interesting -- a little bit of accidental detective work! My husband the historical researcher would be proud of me!

i have just looked at the photo`s on the link. i have never seen them before.on one of the photo`s the drummer is looking up between John and Paul. i can see a third of his face and it is enough to convince me that it is Tommy. This along with the fact that we know Tommy turned up late for the audition and Johnny Hutchison stood in for one song almost makes it certain. This is more than i could ever of wished for.Thank you so much HMVNIPPER,you dont know what this means to me.and thank you all for showing an interest and letting me post here. i never thought i would get such a response. i only came on this site by accident when the site i was on went down,im so glad i came and will be here for many a year from now on.Thank you all again im so excited and happy by this thanks...Tony.

When did Tommy Moore play with the Beatles?

It was quite early on -- there was a lot of stuff about Tommy Moore in Alan Williams' book "The Man Who Gave The Beatles Away." (All that stuff about him being a forklift operator at the bottleworks and having a girlfriend who didn't like him being in the band, definitely!)

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, yes I recall. Wasn't he older than the Beatles and chose to keep a steady job rather than persue the rock and roll life?

Hi

I am new to the forum, and have always been curious about Tommy Moore since he was supposedley a very good drummer, with a real interest in jazz drumming and just took the Silver Beatles gig as a way to do SOMETHING professional musicwise. If John hadn't insisted on Stuart being in the band, would the Silver Beetles have taken off in the summer of 1960? How would history have been different?

My question is this - had Tommy completed National Service (he was already 26 years in 1960 I believe). His jog as a forklift driver certainly would not have exempted him from the British draft.

I was unaware that he had died so young, and so early, less than a year after John Lennon.

How old was Tommy in 1960? I have read 26 and 36. The pic in this thread seems he was the younger age - but Larry Parnes supposedly remarked that he didn't like the fact the Beatles drummer was so much older than the others in the group (26 compared to 18-19 isn't THAT bad......me at 48 now that would look weird).

Default My dad

Hi im tommy moores daughter im his first daughter if you want to no about my father please feel free to contact me!.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about Tommy Moore who was a Drummer with The Beatles for a while in the early days. I knew Tommy well myself, he worked with my father in Standards bottle works in the garston area of Liverpool.Tommy drove a Forklift truck and was having all kinds of trouble with his girlfriend. this led to him missing gigs as she never wanted him to play in the band. Tommy told me she suffered depression and was violent. he said she once met The Beatles and told them to f*** off.
Tommy later married another girl and had a daughter called Claire. his marriage broke up and this is when i got to know him well. he moved to the Belle Vale area of Liverpool and i would see lots of him. He was never bitter about leaving the band. he had all the albums and would tell me tales about them.He took me to my first Beatles convention and got me really hooked.Sadly Tommy died in September 1981. Only 11 people came to his funeral. Bob wooler was there and spoke highly of Tommy. I just wanted to write something about Tommy as i dont want him forgotten. He was a great bloke who did so much for me.If any of you have any information about Tommy`s days in the band please post it. i have no photo`s of him and not sure if any exist from when he was in the band.thanks for reading this everyone,he really was a great bloke...Tony.[/quote]

From what I understand, Tommy Moore never was a Beatle, having only reached the Silver Beatles.

I think I once asked this in the trivia section, but from what I can tell, there are nine people that could actually say they were Beatles...Who were they?

Hello.

I recently decided to see if I could find out anymore information about my grand father, Tommy Moore. My (so far primitive) searches have brought me here, to this rather charming forum :-)

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the information expressed in this thread. It was nice to see my grand father was liked and people have an interest in his life.

If I find out anything Moore (Ha! See what I did there?), then I'll post here again and let you know.

Thanks,

Mike.
