Default Driving Rain/Paul\'s 00\'s work

I noticed that there's a whole lot of people around here that dislike Driving Rain.
Do you think that this album is worse than his average? And how come you think so?

I just wanna know because I really love it.

It all boils down to a question that has recently been asked (and answered) quite frequently - has Paul still got it?

Please tell me if yes or no and why or why not.

I think the songs on Driving Rain are lovely. I enjoy the record quite a lot. His compositions are beautiful. Heather, Rinse The Raindrops...these are groundbreaking works for him! Riding Jaipur also.

He's still got it.

I really like Driving Rain. I think Paul has definitely still got it. To think that the guy has written hundreds upon hundreds of songs, and yet still has new ideas for lyrics and melodies amazes me. "Lonely Road" and "I Do" fit nicely into my 'Paul's Best' list!

i drift in & out of liking driving rain, i like it one day, and then not as much the next. Yesterday i listened to flaming pie and i prefer that at the moment. But like all Pauls albums i love them when i havnt listened to them for a while and return to them.

It's not my favorite of his albums, but I like a few songs off of it. It just seems a bit more meandering and I'm more of a fan of tight pop songs. And some of the lyrics (1 -2-3-4-5, Let's go for a drive????) are pretty awful. But I love the piano on "Heather" and think "Your Way" is just adorable.

I love Driving Rain. It's loose and thematically whole. The songs are about loss and recovery and there is a constant motif running throughout of rain/sunshine. It puts me in mind of the White Album from the Beatles and Paul's Ram/WildLife era. Lots of people around here don't like it very much, but I honestly think it is one of the best things he's done since Flowers in the Dirt.

I like DR but I didn't like it as much as Flaming Pie. But as far as the question "has Paul still got it?" Definately! I saw him twice in concert in May and both nights he was awesome!

I think one reason some people didn't like DR is because they were expecting some really sad Linda tribute songs and didn't get what they expected. (At least this is what I've read on other message boards.)

I love Driving Rain! My fave songs are Your Way, Your Loving Flame, and Rinse The Raindrops.

I also like Freedom although it's not listed as being on the cd.

I always considered Lonely Road and From A Lover To A Friend to be written about his loss.

I like Driving Rain a lot. I bought it after I just started liking Paul a few months ago. It's great, in my opinion.

Yes, I think they were about Linda too and her loss. But I think some people were looking for a more sentimental type song, do you know what I mean? I think DR had a heavier sound than some people expected.

"From A Lover To A Friend" is awfully sentimental, ain't it?
