Default Steppin Out

I love this song. A song about the angst of modern living and the ways in which we try to escape it. It sort of explores the same themes of A Day in the Life, but now the author is older and perhaps a bit more resigned to the mundaneness of everyday life. This song is somewhat humorous and even upbeat but it is aslo tinged with an aura of sadness. Ultimately it is a song about coping with reality rather than finding a true escape from it.

"Just leave a message on the phone and tell them to screw it"
Great advice actually!

I've always liked this song a lot too, Matt. It's really honest, and yeah, the part about "tell them to screw it" always gives me a chuckle.

I like the fadeout, where John says "I'll be in before one...or two...or three." It's barely audible (or maybe I'm deaf!) but I like that. I like this song, too.
