Mystery Singers
Who can identify the voices singing in the background harmonies of "Across The Universe"? And no, I'm looking for non-Beatle names.

Re: Mystery Singers
I seem to remember that a couple of Apple Scruffs were hanging outside the studio. The Beatles wanted some really high voices, so they just walked outside and grabbed the nearest women. I couldn't tell you their names though.

Re: Mystery Singers
It tells you what happened on the back of the UK Rarities album. They were doing the song for the Save the Earth or something record, and needed something for the chorus, so just walked out and picked two girls off of the street. Lucky people.

Re: Mystery Singers
Congrats lennon-mccartney, those are the girls.
Now for PART 2:
What is so unique about this feat in Beatle history?

Re: Mystery Singers
Nothing to do with the question, in what version is this harmony heard in? It is not in the record "Let it Be", but I have heard it on a tape, but I don't know where it was taped from. Was it on the single?

Re: Mystery Singers
It was released on a charity LP in the U.K. I think it was called Nothing's Gonna Change Our World, or something like that. It had some bird noises at the beginning and end. Experts out there, am I right?

Re: Mystery Singers
You can hear the bird noises at the start and end of the single version on 'past masters 2'. This version was given to a charity called the world wildlife fund. I think Spike Milligan (English comedian from the Goons etc) had something to do with either this, or another version.

Re: Mystery Singers
You can also hear this version on the US Rarities LP. Lizzie Bravo and Gayleen Pease did a great job doing the background vocals. But what is their claim to fame?
