It was written by Paul when on holidays in February 1977, and recorded on May 2 1977 on the yacht "The Fair Carol" in the Virgin Islands.

Okay, let's finish this one. Ringo_Rama has the answer, it was in Paris, 1961.

October to be precize, John and Paul met with Jurgen Vollmer who cut their hair like Astrid had done, and whilst being on Jurgen's hotel room, the first parts of this song were written. He had a hotel room 'on the left Bank'.
