Anyone know what's going on with the GH.com forum?
I only recently started going there, but it's been down for maintenance for a while now, so I was just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is?
I hope it's back to normal soon because there was a great article posted there about George's relationship with Carl Perkins and his sons which I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I believe a shorter version was posted here, but the link to the full article was dead.

I noticed that, too. I don't know why it's been down, and there was a lot of good info on that forum, in the archives.
Personally, though, I wonder about the discussion forums there- if George were still here, would he feel the forum was reflective of the message he tried to get out? I dunno. There was a lot of bickering, imo.
The meaningful archives would be a miss, the things like the Carl Perkins article you mention. If it comes back, hopefully there is a mod appointed who might be there daily. As nice as Ruth was (she's a lovely person, seemingly), I think she was pretty busy and not there much in recent years.

I have also been curious as to what is happening. In the past i believe this has happened before, when some software upgrades and reformatting was done.
This time it seems the site is being overhauled, at least that is the impression i had when i last visited earlier this week. It has been ages since i visited the actual site, and not just the Forum. The online Store is sparse with a *new items coming soon* message, and the Forum does not even appear on the main page anymore...wiped clean from exsistance.
It could well be the owners of the site have decided to just do away with the Forum altogether. Not a lot was happening there really...but it was a nice place to visit and collect stories and info from other fans.
I hope it returns...intact.

Oh dear. I wasn't aware of any bickering. Sigh, I wish I had saved that article when I had the chance just a few months ago. It was so moving. I didn't even get to look through all the archives.

The same thing happened with the forum on RottenTomatoes.com, where they took it off the main page. It's still there though and very active, so I hope that's the case here as well. Would they get rid of it just like that, without warning? It may have lost steam in recent years, but I will be really disappointed if it's gone because I've been trying to compile all the George stories I can find, and that forum was like a treasure trove.

I have been on previous forums elsewhere that mysteriously just *dissapeared* overnight. It happens sometimes.
I would like to think this will not be the case with the GH.Com Forum, but i will admit it has been fairly quiet there for some time. I must have missed the drama....

That's very worthwhile! Will you maybe write a book?
The bickering I mentioned was many years ago. The Yogananda folks were made to feel a bit unwelcomed... which I found sad, seeing as how George found Yogananda's message so meaningful. Eventually, most of the SRF-inclined just left the forum.

The first time I noticed the Forum was down was around the beginning of Dec. I believe so I wonder if it's ever coming back. A good while leading up to this practically nothing was ever posted and that was so sad for me. I enjoyed the Forum so much. I remember some heated debates but I probably hadn't joined up yet when the SRF folk were felt to be unwelcome. Typical as discussed before. A lot of people want to "own" George, but as I'm learning, he studied so many different paths.

So sorry to hear about the SRF drama happening some years ago. I had missed that as i had joined the forum around 2007.
It is indeed a shame if the GH.Com Forum is wiped clean and indeed gone. I would like to hope not ! There were quite a lot of nice ongoing threads there, and the spiritually inclined section was always interesting to read.
I had a massive thread going on there that was a *diary* of sorts of my personal journey discovering George*s works. I enjoyed going back and re-reading some of the posts from years ago....and i shall miss it no longer being around. It was also a great place to share my *George Harrison Marionette* project back when it was first revealed there.
I agree with fellowgarner however...over the past couple of years very little was posted there of much substance. What little was posted seemed to spark some controversy and lively debate between some posters.
It would not surprise me if the owners of the official site decided they no longer really need a Forum. Think about it. As much as many of us here enjoyed it, in the big picture i see why it may have been disposed of.
I do still hold hope that it may return. The link is still active to the Forum ( if you can find it..!) but it still says this message :
Hi Guys, We are just performing some maintenance and will be back soon. GH Board Admin
So it seems this is just temporary..but it has been quite a few months now.

I would love to write a book, but sadly I've no idea how I'd go about it and don't exactly consider myself a writer. I should say, I'm very grateful for all the stories people have been posting on this forum because next to GH.com and meetthebeatlesforreal, this was the most convenient place to find them. I suppose I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that it'll come back.
That's very sad to hear. I'm sure George wouldn't be happy about that at all.

I check the Forum every now and then just to see what's going on and it's the same as usual - maintenance. I've always had a link to it on my screen, georgeharrison.com/index but about a week ago the link disappeared. Probably just that I hit something accidentally to delete it but anyway, I typed in the address today and nothing is there. Not even a page. So it seems that the Forum is gone. This really disappoints me.

I still have my link on my screen and it's still there saying it's down for maintenance but it's been 6 months now. there is no link to it on the official website.
I tried writing someone there just asking but the e-mails bounced

OH, and the store's gone right now too. It still has an official page from the main sight, but what was on it is gone and it just says, "New products coming soon."

Boy am I glad to be here...
I'm so pleased I'm not the only one who's frustrated by the absence of the forum. I could kick myself for not saving a couple of the threads there. Now they appear to be gone, and they were quite significant because of the connection with departed members. (Those of you who were also there may know who I am referring to.)
Thanks,
Shady
