"Top of the Pops" BBC transcription disc, 1967
Hi, I found a "Top of the Pops " BBC radio transcription LP
from 6.8.67 in Belgium on a flea market. Number = 11326, Duration 42'15''.
The LP is in near mint condition.
You can hear the Beatles talking with the host on it and there are 3 Beatles songs on the album (A hard days night, the things we said today and have some fun tonight) plus songs and a short interview with Dusty Springfield , plus some other artists' music ....
It looks exactly like this one :
http://www.beatlesource.com/bs/od-bbc-tops.html
but it has another date on it of course ....
Can anyone tell me something about the value of this LP ?
I'm not a Beatles collector myself, but I thought I couldn't pass this one :)
Thanks for your help,
Robert (Belgium, Europe)

I got no reply to this topic,
does that mean the LP is not rare at all ,
or does it mean nobody has an idea about the value?
Thanks in advance for your reply...
Robert

Hi
I think this certainly has quite a collector's value. There are many of these things on LP's and cassettes and CD's, so this is another one. However I had a little look around on bootleg pages but did not see it.
I can not indicate the value though.
One issue is that many LP bootlegs now appear on CD's and it depends if there are buyers interested in this recording.
If you want that to be able to sell it I think offering it would give some indication. But...since there is so much around from the Beatles I think you would need to be more specific on what is on it. Date of the TOTP broadcast, which must be from early 60's ofcourse.
I will ask the moderator to move this to the Bootleg forum where it may get some more attention as to the recording as such. I may be interesting to people here to know about it.

I don't think this is a bootleg. There are a few BBC transcription discs floating around that feature the big artists of the 60's that were used on various BBC projects.
I've done a bit of hunting and found this. Is this the record? If so it also gives you a market value. Hope it helps!

What harb said,
Could be an official transcription LP used for one of the BBC programs, instead of a bootleg.

Ah, now it makes sense. The 1967 date is an expiry date, not recording date. A look through Lewisohn shows the recording date for the Beatles portion of this disc to most likely be 7/7/64. It was on this date that they recorded "A Hard Day's Night", "Things We Said Today", and "Long Tall Sally" (the chorus of which is have some fun tonight).

I got $ 179 for this one, not bad I guess, since I only paid $2 for it :)
Thanks y'all for your help...
I got some more Beatles rarities over here, so I'll be back soon ...
