Re: Copa America
...and they did
I hadn't posted the results for the other two quarterfinal games:
Uruguay 3 - Paraguay 1
Brazil 4 - México 0
We're now in semifinals and Argentina is a huge favorite for the championship:
Argentina 3 - Colombia 0
This is their best game so far. The other semi-final (Brazil v Uruguay) is to be played today. Brazil is the favorite of course, but Uruguay has been a pleasant surprise.

Re: Copa America
So the result was
Brazil 1 (5) - Uruguay 1 (3)
solved in penalty kicks. A really good game! We're all waiting anxiously for the superfinal Argentina v Brazil. Pity that Chile didn't make it further than the first round, but football always gives revenges.

Hi taxman! Pinilla is a good forward. He tends to play in the wings of the field, and has a lot of energy and force. Inside the field, he's always given satisfactions to our national team and to local team Universidad de Chile, but has failed miserably in his international incursions, due mostly to his behaviour outside the field. His main problem is that he wants to be a David Beckham and be a mediatic figure more than a soccer player, so the coach of Sporting, and the executives of your team will have to look carefully after him: a couple of "night outs" and the problems will start. If you keep him away from the pubs and stuff like that, it'll be OK!

Re: Copa America
As we say over here, bring on the "hermanos"! It'll be a final of dreams, even though I feel it's a David x Goliath thing, and Argentina is playing Goliath this time! After all, they've brought the whole team and the kitchen sink, while Brazil's brought all the young, unexperienced players.
Anyroad, it's going to be Brazil all the way!!

BRAZIL, WINNER OF 2004 COPA AMERICA.
What a game! Last second goals, penalties, miracles and one player off to the hospital. Haven't seen a final like that in ages... it was worth the wait and the nervous wreck!
The game ain't over until it's over, as Sorin and co. could learn yesterday

Re: Copa America
Even though... Argentina showed the best football of the tournament...
Even though... Argentina was winning until the 92nd minute of the game...
Even though... Argentina played a better game than Brazil...
Crying is not enough, and you have to be concentrated during ALL the game, and not just 92 of the 93 minutes that are played. The rules are the rules and Brazil took their chances. Congrats to the new champion!

i can't believe Argentina lost- they were so close!
there was quite a lot of "carajo" and "mierda" being uttered by my grandfather as he watched Brazil be crowned champions. he really gets into the game.
congratulations to Brazil, but my heart stays with Argentina!

[/ QUOTE ]Oh come on you guys! Learn how to lose, please! That taking off the silver medals was really a shame to all the tournament. As unfair as it might seem, Brazil were the champions and you were the second team... you played better throughout all the tournament (except that awful game against Mexico, no comments), and in that game, but Brazil took advantage of the fact that your players lost concentration in the last minute. No help from the referee, no help from FIFA, just using the rules. Proper champions, period.
The fact that you played better will only be remembered for a couple of years. Brazil is the real champion, and that's what's written in there for the record. It happens that way. 'tis my humble opinion, boys and girls. Take it easy, it's just a game after all (no need for 'puta que te parió's and everything else... )

Re: Copa America
I know how to lose...I recognise that we lost...but I cannot think that Brasil won because it has a good game.
Brazilian players are great, and they use to play very hard a and well, and I never meant to say that they needed help from the referee or from FIFA. I said what I felt and what most of us Argentinians may think: Brazil didn't show its best in this tournament, and that's why our consious cannot "accept" it.
Oh, and last thing...come on...you never "lived" a real football match without saying a "bad word"... It's not that you want to do it, you just say it by heart.

That's completely true.
I agree with you in your other comments... but who cares, really. Tournament is over. I really (really) hope that you win the Olympics, which are the next thing to come. You have a really great U-23 team which won the south american competition played here in Chile. Good luck.
