CD Singles US vs UK

I am looking to complete my beatles collection on CD (See my thread in Beatles for Sale) I assume some of you have had experience in buying the sets. More specifically the CD Singles Collection, which contains all the original UK singles releases on CD. i have however seen some US CD singles collections circulating around, and I know that many of the releases in the US were quite different from the UK releases. Does anyone know how complete the UK set is? in other words would there be anything released in us singles that i could not find in the uk set.

My answer is the same as on your other thread. If you just want all the songs you don't need the U.S. cd single collection. There are a few unique U.S. couplings like the "The Long and Winding Road" B/W "For You Blue" single. But all the songs are avaiable on the U.K. cd's including the two Past Masters cd's.

If you're interested in better sound and mix variations.
There are no different mixes on the U.S. singles.Some unique U.S. mixes can be found on the two Capitol box sets. There are different U.S. mixes for "And Your Bird Can Sing" "Dr. Robert" and "I am Only Sleeping" but since they weren't released as singles in the U.S. they aren't in the box set, and they have yet to be released on cd officially.

The U.K. single and ep sets contains all the singles and ep's that were ever released in the U.K. in better mono mixes and they do sound better then the 1987 cd releases. So you need to have those.

If you just want to have your cd collection complete, buy everything that has been released officially. I have my doubts about the U.S. cd singles collection, it could be an official release but it sounds like a pirate.
Does it contain all the U.S. singles, including the ones released by Vee-Jay, or just the ones released by Capitol?

Some other U.S. differences regarding the singles.
Before Capitol released Beatles material in the U.S., small labels like Vee-Jay had the rights to the Please Please Me material, cause Capitol wasn't interested.
However the two Vee-Jay and Swan releases were the same as in the U.K.

Capitol released " I Want To Hold Your Hand" however instead of "This Boy" they released "I Saw Her Standing There" on the B sides.
Both songs can be found on "Meet The Beatles" which is included in the first Capitol box set.

Vee- Jay issued "Twist and Shout" B/W "There is a place, on their Tollie label. And
"Do You Want To Know A Secret" B/W "Thank You Girl"

And there are a few others, no different mixes tho. You can find everything on the U.K. cd's and capitol box sets. So the list you posted in your previous thread is complete.
