The profile is just not THERE enough to be the real John.

Nice effort, though. But nobody has a profile as perfect as John's. Nobody.

Default The Great Profile

Found this on some random non-Beatles blog:

Quote:
If the Rock music world gave its people names like Hollywood did its Golden Era film stars, John Lennon would have to be dubbed "The Great Profile", la John Barrymore.

Since 1964, when I saw this profile shot of John singing "I Should've Known Better" in the baggage cage of a train in the Beatles' first film, A Hard Day's Night, I was hooked on his face. Before then, I'd never really noticed his looks. Unlike most Beatles fans, I was actually listening to the music, learning their songs on my guitar.

As the Beatle years progressed, John's face grew ever more distinctive. That stern nose with the sneering curl on each side, the quick eyes, the intellectual, sarcastic wit that showed--all the components of John's face made him a fascinating person to look at.

To me, his face was ultimately intelligent, and while the other Beatles' faces were cute, sexy, and doleful, John's had a light that bespoke the genius that lay beneath the moptop hair and the flashing photo op smile.

That write-up should be the sacred scroll upon which this thread centers. Absolute truth. That picture Maia posted is simple testimony to the sheer perfection of John's profile. Certainly his nose was unique, regal, classic. On any other face it could have made a different statement, but on his it just made the whole picture that much more alluring. John's features look like they were molded by an artist because they are so beautifully balanced, yet they each have something so powerful when observed individually.

Fred and Julia, you did well.

I remember looking at pics of Lennon decades ago and trying to figure out his face.
One source was "Beatle Cards".
They were like baseball cards and came in a package of 5 or 6.
I never had the words even to myself why I was so drawn to him, but I do remember his striking nose, also that killer smile of his.

!!!!OFF TOPIC ALERT!!!!
I have also noticed that women with, not a large and long nose, but a prominent one, seems to strike my fancy as they used to say.
To give you a few examples, Sophia Loren and more currently Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Anniston.
This is odd that this subject came up because I only recently, like in the last few years or so, understood this about myself.

I think it's awesome. I have always been fond of unconventional noses. To varying degrees. My dad and I used to watch reruns of Streets Of San Francisco and I always found Karl Malden's nose to have so much character. Like, I'd just stare at it. It wasn't something that I necessarily found attractive, so to speak, but it was definitely interesting and it kind of drew me in.

I think John had an exquisite nose. Extremely refined and unique. I love his nose because it has a regal essence. Quite like my husband's nose. However, I do appreciate 'perfect' noses. Not the small/cutesy Macca one, but definitely Matt Bomer's nose (of course his whole face is wow...).

Most important of all is what a nose does for a person's face. For John, no question, it gave him SO much character and strength. I believe he had one of the most famous and extraordinary noses in history, quite frankly.

I remember that at the beginning, when I learnt about the Beatles, I had difficulties not to mix up George and John, especially when they have longer hair. It was especially through John's nose that I could make the difference between them.... oh, and "killer smile" sounds good

As for women's nose: The most famous one is Cleopatra's, I guess
