Default Standing In The Shadow of Motown DVD

I recently viewed the movie about the Funk Brothers band who supplied the legendary music for all the iconic groups in their heyday. Did anyone see the movie when it was released a few years ago? I really enjoyed it. It was informative and bittersweet. The Beatles and Rolling Stones are mentioned briefly. Although it took nearly 40 years, I'm glad the guys were finally given the respect they deserved.

Yeah good documentary.......some of those guys never were around to see it come full circle, at least to the degree it did.......James Jamerson for sure.....

I think those players deserved more, but in the music business, you gotta keep your mind on the business.........but that's not much fun, so musicians under sell themselves and are taken advantage of........that coming from a musician......

Yes, bittersweet documentary in a way. Great that they finally were paid a proper tribute, but sad that it came so late, after so many had passed. They were truly one of the greatest session groups of all time.

After receiving the dvd as a present, I unfortunately did not view it for some time afterwards. After finally doing so I looked them up online and found out that I had just missed their appearance at the Belly Up in San Diego. Man, was I bummed.
