37 Years Ago: John Lennon’s Deportation Order Reversed

On Oct. 7, 1975, New York State Supreme Court judge Irving Kaufman reversed a deportation order for John Lennon, allowing him to legally remain in the United States. Lennon was in the spotlight throughout the first few years of the decade, not only due to his music and his status as a former Beatle, but equally for his very outspoken stance on the Vietnam War and the Nixon administration.

A Merry 2012 Video Birthday Celebration for Iconic Saint John Lennon the Beatle

Every October 9 we celebrate the birthday of the one who gave the world "All You Need is Love," the first global broadcast, and "Give Peace A Chance," the rallying cry that united millions in ending a useless war (yes, "useless war" IS a redundancy!) An orphan with a bad attitude, his life was a miracle journey of ego to the peak of absolute fame, power, and wealth, the crash that inevitably follows, and the redemption of a life through love, appreciation, and respect for inner and outer peace.

The Antique Circus Poster That Inspired John Lennon to Write ‘Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite’

In 1967, John Lennon purchased a Victorian circus poster at an antiques shop. That poster later inspired him to write the song, ‘Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!‘, which can be found on the ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band‘ album by the The Beatles. The short film titled Lennon’s Poster, by Nick Esdaile and Joe Fellows, talks about the poster and how Peter Dean and his team have lovingly recreated it using traditional methods of wood engraving and letterpress printing.
