Default Miley Cyrus Records Famous John Lennon Song

http://www.teenmusic.com/d/201601/10...nnon-song.html

Teen superstar Miley Cyrus has recorded a cover version of John Lennon peace anthem Imagine.

The 16-year-old hit the studio for a duet with her Hannah Montana: The Movie co-star Emily Osment after the pair bonded on the set of the film, through their love of the late Beatles legend.

Cyrus tells Moviefone.com, "I'm just a huge John Lennon fan. I studied him in school, and just watched the movie Chapter 27 (which depicts his murder).

"We (Cyrus and Emily Osment) did a duet of Imagine, in the studio."

Cyrus doesn't reveal if the duet will ever be released - but she insists fans shouldn't be surprised by her eclectic musical taste.

She adds, "I don't think the music you produce has to be the the music you listen to. I like singing pop music, and I like dancing. And you can't really dance a lot to rock and roll. I like Nirvana. I really like Radiohead. I really love the Beatles."

----
I have no problem with her recording or singing it. Just please let the song keep it's legacy and don't release it.

Ha ha!! I'm kind of indifferent about this. The only thing that bothers me about it is that sometimes I think we are in danger of making it seem like "Imagine" is the only decent solo song John ever did. Seriously...pick something else! "Imagine" has been driven into the ground....pick something stellar like "Instant Karma". Still typical solo John: some politics, some optimism, great song.

Oh, sure it'll be released! I'm sure Disney would be just thrilled to have their biggest star -- and role-model to pre-teen girls everywhere -- issue a song about an ideal world with "no religion" as one of its main features.

I'd give anything to have Miley record either Cold Turkey, Working Class Hero, or Woman Is The N*gg*r Of The World. Or, if she wanted to mine John's songs with the Beatles...I Am The Walrus.

Seriously!!! It does seem like that's the only solo song people remember. He DID do other songs too, people!

*throws up a little in back of mouth*

And I agree, if she wants to do this song, she should do Woman is the Nigger of the World too if she wants to appreciate John's music.

I don't agree how she says the music you produce has to be the music you listen to. Obviously, what you listen to is what you like, how could you produce music that sounds nothing like what you listen to? I just can't see someone like Miley Cyrus(who sings really cheesy disney pop) really listening to The Beatles or Nirvana for that matter. And I really hope they do not release it because I'm sure she will butcher it. I'm sick of people doing this to Beatles songs!
I found this on youtube the other day and could not believe it.

Well, I guess she never released it because I heard this news in the summertime and never heard her cover.

I don't think that Miley introducing Lennon songs to these very young fans of hers is a terrible thing. When they're older and more discerning, they may check out more of his music as he recorded it. A lot of kids may not get to hear much of it otherwise.

I believe Lucy was a Spice Girls fan when she was a young 'un!

I dunno Georgie Girl. Remember that movie "Across the Universe?" From what I observed, it appealed to many of the younger generation, especially in high school and they preferred the covers over the originals. Many of them were people I knew and it made me so angry that they would listen to The Beatles' version for about 10 seconds and say "I like the movie's version better." Never gave them a chance. To this day those same people STILL don't give the originals a chance...

But then again, "Across the Universe" was a movie where as Miley Cyrus is just a stage in their pre-teen development. When they look back, they'll realize how terrible she was and possibly look into the true geniuses behind the real music. Hopefully.

Overall, she most likely butchered it. Her voice is terrible. And a huge John Lennon fan? Yeah, Chapter 27 depicts that all right...If she was a huge fan, wouldn't she have NOT watched it like a majority of major John Lennon fans on here?

You know, you could dance to rock and roll...it just may not be in the dry humping style.
