I just got a call from my Nana, she said there was some footage of John taken before he was taken from us. I don't know if it'll play where I live.
My dad said something, because one of his favorite musicians was also shot on this day.

I hate it when people call Ringo ugly too. He's just as attractive as the rest, in my opinion! Oh, and I love his pouty lips too ;D

My dad agrees they were influential, and I'm open to most music(more 60's-80's). But I never went this crazy over one until I started listening to the Beatles this summer. I like melodies/harmonies in music, which are plentiful in Beatles music :D

I've thought about changing the genre too, but you actually did it! That's great!

One of my friends thought John Lennon died in 1880. *scrapes hoof against ground and breathes out heavily through nose*

Someone else told me the Beatles suck. I told him that if that's what he thinks then everything he thinks is wrong.

I was watching a Beatles show tonight, The Beatles on the Record, and this is what was said to me:
"Look at how they dressed."
"Well, I guess that's how they dressed back then."
"You have to admit, they were weird."
More was said, but I don't have enough room. No matter how hard I try, I can never say anything in defense of the Beatles. I guess I'm a little shy around family.

As far as I'm concerned, they dressed FABULOUS! They had more style [and/or better style] than anyone else I can think of... <3

Totally agreed - I wish more guys these days had enough class to dress like they did. Sure, they were kind of forced into it, but still, it's attractive!

I don't think it's necessary to defend them to anyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No artistic endeavor appeals to everyone. If someone thinks the Beatles sucked, hey it's their opinion. It's worth no more and no less than yours or mine.
The music of the Beatles stands on its own. I've no doubt that 100 years from now they'll be talking about Paul McCartney the same way we talk about Mozart now. But not everyone likes Mozart, either

I agree with both of you. I love the Beatles' style, from their collarless suits to their psychedelic clothes. My family doesn't like their psychedelic clothing.

Completely true. I guess what I should have said instead was I wish I could tell what I think. Because I've always been a little too shy to disagree with people.

"I killed a beetle the other day..."
xD It's not that bad, and I think it's funny now.

Yeah...it wouldn't have done any good to defend them, unfortunately.

I am so glad I'm going on holiday this week. Now I don't have to go to school and listen to my "friends" make remarks about how stupid I am for liking the Beatles.

I've always thought that if someone can basically make fun of you for liking something, then they aren't your friend. I wouldn't pay any mind to them.

I couldn't agree more. There's a big difference between teasing a friend and them making fun of you...and I feel sorry for them missing out on the greatness of The Beatles! [I also feel sorry for those who have to make fun of people like that.] It's their loss!

Someone told me that Paul's voice is messed up. Another said that John Lennon looked like a weirdo.

A coworker said that to me once. I asked her, "And how could you know that? Were you ever with one to find out?" She never dissed the Beatles again.
Also, when Beatle Busters say stupid things like that, I say, "Name 3 Beatle songs of 1965 (or 1966, or whichever year comes to my mind.)" Usually, the person can't. I then say, "you can't really say that because you don't know that. Just listen to some Beatles. You have to have good taste to like them, so don't tell me about your lack of taste. Just go listen to the Beatles." That usually works.
(Once in when I was in middle school, some fool dissed the Beatles to me. I said, "You've just told me that you don't have good taste. You have to have good taste to like the Beatles. Don't complain to me about your absence of cultural exposure." That worked.)

BB, I actually copied your post and pasted it on my Sticky Notes app. That's a GREAT response for people who hate the Beatles!
There's this kid at school who keeps arguing with me that the Beatles are obviously stupid because they can't spell "Beetle" right.
