April 2004 Issue of Rooftop Sessions is UP!
Hi Rooftop Readers!
Well, it's April 1st, but this is no April Fool's joke -- it's time once again for a new issue of ROOFTOP SESSIONS, the monthly e-zine featuring the finest in Beatles-related fiction!
We have another terrific issue for you this month, featuring three stories (two from brand-new authors) and some poetry (including some from a new poet) for your perusal.
A brief announcement before we discuss the new issue:
REMINDER: Rooftop Sessions Publisher and Editor-in-Chief will be a guest at the NY Metro Fest for Beatles Fans this weekend, April 2-4, at the Meadowlands Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus, NJ. I will be moderating discussion panels about fan fiction, as well as hosting a fanfic/poetry reading session on Saturday night! Please look for me at the Rooftop Sessions table (probably in the Dealer Room) and try to come to the panels if you are at all interested -- I love to meet our readers in person! (The discussion panels will be on Friday evening at 9:30 and Sunday afternoon at 12:15, and the poetry session will be on Saturday night at 8:30, but check your programs for the exact times and place, as this is subject to change.)
I also want to take this opportunity to thank the people who have been submitting their work for consideration and have taken the time and trouble to follow the Submission Guidelines! It is nice to see that all our hard work on those guidelines is not in vain and that people are indeed paying attention. Remember, we are always interested in new authors to showcase -- follow the link on the main Rooftop Sessions page to read the Frequently Asked Questions and the Submission Guidelines if you have any work you'd like us to take a look at and don't be shy!
And now, we proudly present our April issue:
"Baby, You're a Rich Man" by Angel Godiva - John and Mary's family keeps on increasing, making their lives even more full...
"Memories of a 365" by Tom Austin - John's prized guitar tells its own story.
"Uplifting" by Lindsey Hagston - Interesting things can happen in elevators, as a young secretary finds out when she gets stuck in one along with George.
"A Tree For George" by Susan Hancock - A poem about a beautiful memorial in the Hollywood hills...
Poetry by Robin Roberts - Three poems.
As usual, the URL is http://www.rooftopsessions.com and as usual, there are email links for each author at the end of every story. Please do write to them and let them know what you think of their work -- there's nothing like a little encouragement!
Enjoy the April issue!

I should point out that the story entitled "Uplifting" is by our very own Miss O'Dell!

Well, hon, not everyone knows your real name...though they DO know you aren't Angel Godiva, and I somehow think you don't qualify as Tom Austin either!

Miss O'Dell,
I LOVE your story! As ususal, Rooftop Sessions has an excellent selection of stories. Your story, Miss O'Dell really captivated and delighted me. I LOVE the way you described George's hair. I love the dialogue and the history and the way you worked in appropriate Beatle lyrics.
I REALLY loved your story!

Re: April 2004 Issue of Rooftop Sessions is UP!
Thank you everybody for all being so nice. I am lindsey, alter ego of Miss O'Dell. (I wish I was the real Miss O'Dell though!) I also really liked all the other stories published this month, the 365 one I thought was really original and a well thought out idea. Lovely stuff.

Re: April 2004 Issue of Rooftop Sessions is UP!
Thanks to all who read "Memories of A 365". But I really must say that "Uplifting" was very good as well. If you haven't read it drop what you're doing and do so now. It's really very, very good, and for a first story it's fantastic. It hooked me so I really wanted read more. Good show Miss O'Dell.
Just out of curiosity who is the real Miss O'Dell ?

Re: April 2004 Issue of Rooftop Sessions is UP!
Thanks BB1964, Kristi, and Lindsey. I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement. It's pretty early in the morning here - cop car siren just ruined what little quality sleep I could get, and daylight savings just started - so I mispelled anyones name I apologise.
