Album Question..

Hey everyone. I just joined. I have wanted to really get serious about the Beatles for a while. I am 22.. so I have heard 100s of their songs obviously growing up. I want to start buying their CDs. I want to listen to all of their music by release date. I was talking to my dad about their albums, and he says the first album was "Meet the Beatles' but doing research online I am seeing "Introducing the beatles" and that's just with the American releases. They are from The UK. Is it like Harry Potter where the real deal is all of the UK reales? Copy you guys copy and paste a list of all the albums in chronological order? And do they came in CDs or am i going to have to get a turn table?

Those are the only 12 UK studio LPs. You can get them all on CD in many CD shops, in many places in the world.

Its official name is "The Beatles", no 9.

oh thanks! so if i get all of them i don't need to get "the Beatles anthology" cds or anything? do you recomend getting each album separate? or do they sell maybe a complete collection of all their songs on one cd? (well one set)

welcome. I recommend Anthology, you need to get it, there are different versions of songs there, demos, different takes, and some until then not officially released songs. Antology Cds/LPs (vinyl) were released after those others. Yes, each album separate would be fine. But I'd recomend that you listen to them in this order:

1. Red
2. Blue

as an introduction

then all the studio albums

then Past Masters 1, 2 (it's a collection of songs featured on officially released UK singles, which are not included on studio albums, or different versions than on the albums)

then Anthology 1, 2, 3

(The way I see it,) The Anthology albums are really for when you know all the songs well and want to "go deeper". Like raul says they consist mainly of demos and early takes. So they're a lot of fun, but I recommend you get into the other albums first.

Also, I recomend, Magical mystery tour LP/CD. It wasn't released in the UK in 1967. as an LP, but as an EP. It was released in the USA as LP, containing all the songs from the UK EP, plus Hello Goodbye, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane, Baby you're a rich man and All you need is love. It was so successful in sales, that they decided in the UK to incorporate it in the official discography, so what you have today in CD stores is actually the USA LP from 1967.

I would start in chronological order.
It will blow your mind...

ok now with Meet the Beatles and Introducing the Beatles. what's the difference? .... the songs on those two albums? what UK album are they on?

I think we're making this harder than it should be.

Forget all the Capitol Records stuff. Just stick with the official CDs in the store. And yes, in order would be best...

If you truly want to listen to everything in order, then buy the Past Masters CDs, check out the release dates in the booklet, and I guess listen to selected tracks as you go. But you definitely need them, there are some huge songs on there that aren't on the regular full album releases.

You can leave out the Red & Blue albums, leave out the "1" album, and for sure leave out the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" nonsense.

If you're still interested at that point, then get the "Anthology" sets, followed by the "BBC" release, and finish it up with the "Let It Be... Naked" CD.

That should cover it.

This question could take like 45 minutes to answer. Long story. But simple answer... don't worry about it. Buy the CDs above and you'll have it all.

So. the songs on the two albums i mentioned before (meet the beatles, and introducing the beatles) are all on the other albums? that's cool.

wish itunes had beatles music. would save me gas.

Yeah, anything on Meet The Beatles and Introducing The Beatles would be on those first few CDs.

If you can wait a little longer, I'm sure iTunes will have all the remastered stuff soon enough.

Hey Jude is not on any studio album. You may find it on Past Masters 2, Bluë Album, there's also the album Hey Jude, a compilaton. Same goes for Revolution, I'm not sure if it's on Hey Jude, though.

If you get studio albums (including Magical Mystery Tour US LP), past masters 1, 2, you'll get everything they officially released until the break-up.

Then, if you wish, you can get Anthology 1, 2, 3, Live at BBC, Let it be ...naked, and that's about it.

Past Masters 2.

Get the original UK albums on CD plus Magical Mystery Tour (the list has already been posted) and the two Past Masters albums.You'll then have all the original albums and singles which you can listen to in order of release by checking with any decent discography.
