This one isn't of just John... it's him and his Quarry Men mates. But in this photo John looks almost exactly like my dad did at about the same age.... it's weird. He doesn't look like John, he looks like my pops!

Yup, I know what you mean... his whole life had just suddenly changed, He was excited, but extraordinarily vulnerable at the time.
