The Beatles\' Coats of Arms
So I was just noodling around on the Internet today and I found these, and I, at least, think they're fascinating!
These are all from the great site House Of Names. I really hope the links work!
The Lennon Coat of Arms:

Can someone translate the Latin motto?
The McCartney Coat of Arms:

It stimulates, but it adorns.
The Harrison Coat of Arms:
Harrison Coat of Arms
He conquers who endures.
The Starkey Coat of Arms:

Can someone translate the Latin motto?
Also, if anyone knows the full story behind the crests, that would be fascinating. Isn't it great how the McCartney and Harrison mottos fit so well?
(Edited because I can't spell. :-P)

Re: The Beatles\' Coats of Arms
My Latin's not that great, but as far as I could ressearch the Starkey motto would mean something like "A return expected for a long time".
Still working on the Lennon crest.
Great finds, Ailurophile!

Re: The Beatles\' Coats of Arms
For Lennon crest I'm not sure about 'prisco' but stirpe means 'descendants' and 'hibernico' means 'from Scotland'
"Hibernia was the ancient name for Scotland"

According to this site, "Prisco Stirpe Hibernico" can be translated as “Of ancient Irish stock”.

No, actually, Hibernia was the ancient name for Ireland, and Caledonia was the ancient name for Scotland! Just wanted to correct that... (and this is what I get for not reading the WHOLE THREAD before I reply... )

Re: The Beatles\' Coats of Arms
I thought this was kind of neat, they've the Martin Coat of Arms and it says, "Sure and Steadfast."

Re: The Beatles\' Coats of Arms
Thanks everyone for the mottos, and good show Sgt. McCartney finding the Martin Crest! I didn't even think of that one.
So almost everyone has Irish ancestry. I guess that makes sense, being it's Liverpool and all.
