Lets Talk Dylan.....Volume 2

Bob Dylan will release the 9th edition of his bootleg series in October.
‘The Bootleg Series Volume 9 – The Witmark Demos’ features the first official release of 47 Dylan tracks recorded as demos for this first music publisher Leeds Music in 1962 and for his second M. Witmark & Sons between 1962 and 1964.
The collection features early versions of now classics ‘Mr Tambourine Man’, ‘Blowin In The Wind’ and ‘The Times They Are A-Changing’, all recorded before Dylan turned 24 years old.
15 of the songs were recorded for the demos but never made their way to Dylan albums.
As well as ‘The Witmark Demos’, Sony will also reissue Dylan’s first eight albums in their original mono mixes as a box set. The eight albums start with the March 1962 debut self-titled album and go through to 1967’s ‘John Wesley Harding’ record. Each disc features its own individual jacket replicated from the original artwork.

I used to think Dylan was the great rock and roll scam as a kid. I thought he had a horrible voice and his songs were bloated word salad. I found him through a musical journey that started w John Mellencamp. I liked him because in an era of shitty spandex, poodle hair, shrieking metal, he had a raw, organic sound and he looked like me w the jeans and tee shirt and the shaggy hair. From there I discovered Springsteen who was a more storied artist and whose songs cast a much bigger shadow. And from there I moved on to Van Morrison. This was something far more sophisticated and transcendent. And that's where I heard Baby Blue. I thought "This is Bob Dylan, eh?". The switch was flipped. That was 10 years ago and I'm still learning Bob's catalog and enjoying it like a first generation fan did. Standing in the Doorway from Time Out of Mind is currently haunting my subconscious.

I'll be seeing him in a couple weeks at the Ryman in Nashville.

well col. i know you have to know bob's stuff on wilbury's vol. 1...some of bob's best stuff from that time.
also get the dvd on the "bobfest" as neil young called it...the 30 year anniversary of his recording career...a good time by all. ok well sinead got booed off but it was a bad time for her to appear publicly.

Has anyone here listened to his latest album, Shadows In The Night? Would be good to hear opinions.

I love the way how they sing, when i was playing some games called Forge of Empires and Gacha life i feel like i was hyped and then when im starting to yawning i just sleep so easily cause the song is so nice and beautiful.

Rough and Rowdy Ways is a fantastic album that came out this year, amazing songs.

Dylan's new tour starts in a couple of days. 80 years old, never stops!
