Eight Days a Week Documentary

Thanks to Ron Howard, the new Beatles' documentary Eight Days a Week is one of, if not the best Beatles' documentary I have ever seen. It focuses on the boys' touring years; the banner year 1966 when John Lennon made his now well-known comment during an interview and was taken out of context with devastating results; the focus on the end of their concert career. Interviews are spliced in and the footage is such a treat.

Whoopi Goldberg; Larry Kane and Sigourney Weaver as well as a historian who is black give their input and insights on the documentary. If you are lucky enough to live in a town where the film is being shown, you will most likely be treated to a bonus showing of the Beatles' first Shea Stadium concert.

Definitely a must see. You will love it!

I really enjoyed it too! Especially the colorized concert footage (like Washington DC 1964), and of course, the full Shea Stadium concert. Examining The Beatles in the context of their touring years puts a helpful focus on a huuuge story, so anyone can follow along without having to be an expert. The only thing I thought was a little goofy was how they used still photos to stand in during audio recordings of the lads. Anthology did a better job there. Overall, still one of the best pieces of Beatle media out there!

It was an incredible excitement to watch the London premiere a few hours before driving to a local theater listening to "Live At The Hollywood Bowl" all the way there (and back) before seeing it all + Shea on the big screen! It was truly one of the most exhilarating days of my life. It was pure Beatlemania.

The Documentery was playing close to me, I will wait for it to be on TV. Looks good, I am sad to hear they showed stills with some of the music.

I thought the documentary was interesting but not great. The Shea footage was good to see but half the people in the cinema didn't even know it was being shown after the film despite there being an onscreen announcement at the strat of the film.

It wasn't so great that I actually cancelled my pre-order for the DVD as it's not something I'd watch again unlike, say, The Anthology or Living In The Material World documentary.

Same old, same old to me, nicely done by Ron Howard with heart but for the true Beatles fan, nothing new.
