We celebrate the Diamond Jubilee anniversary of John's birth... our Beatle Baby Sean is turning FORTY (can you Adam-and-Eve it?!)... and our Queen of Menlove Avenue lights the candles on her sweet birthday cake.
¡Feliz Cumpleaños, Apple Scruff!
Happy Birthday, Sean and John!

Thank you Maia! I'm coming back later to spam. I won't go crazy because, this year, I want to write my thoughts to Sean as well. Sean turned 40 today...wha?!?? Unreal. And not only is he a fantastic musical artist in his own write (see what I did there?) but a really awesome person.
Oh John. How I love thee. I put on "You Are Here" today and feel like that song also describes you, John...you live on. Your presence is felt so deeply in any great new artist I hear, or a lyric that comes directly from the heart. You remain timeless...love ya.

Hi wallrus! Thank you sooo much. So great to see you and hope YOU are doing well too.
I just wanted to say really quick that this birthday has to be a touching one for Sean in particular. I mean...40 is a significant year. I think what I really appreciated was his own take on it, which I found in a recent article:
“I think the thing about getting older is it’s made me more aware of the finite nature of time on the planet. I think when you’re in your early 30s or late 20s, time feels more abstract. I think there’s something about facing mid-life that makes time very – well, the opposite of abstract. It makes it real and observable and you see how many years you have left, at best.”
Astute and well said, as always. I'm sure Sean won't openly admit his own personal connection to this age- because I know that dealing with those memories must be a struggle for him, even if it has been a long time- but to THINK that John's little boy has now reached this age. It's incredible...and bittersweet.
I'm capping this off with the most gorgeous song a father has ever written for his little boy. THIS masterpiece:

Happy belated birthday and all good wishes to you, Scruffie! It appears that Sean's birthday was rather memorable as well if his posts mean anything. Miss you all and hope your day was a grand one.

Of course I haven't forgotten about our hero's birthday... but in a way, John just can't grow old, to me; so he'll never be older than 40
but I also think it sounds incredible that Sean is now 40 years old !! Inevitably, this must bring back sad memories to him; so that day must have been very special to him. Hopefully, he enjoyed that day nevertheless...as you did
