Anyone planning a visit to Liverpool...
...must include the tour of the Casbah Coffee Club.
I've been meaning to mention it since I got back from Liverpool last weekend. A really amazing place to visit and the tour is excellent. Well worth the money.
When we did it, we were quite lucky since it was just the three of us (me, Todd and Ellie) so it was pretty personal and intimate.
Rory Best does a great job of showing you around and telling you stories (even if he doesn't make eye contact at first!!). I only wish that I had thought to ask him some questions since he is one of the few primary resources around and must know so much!
The atmosphere there is fantastic. I'm not sure if cameras are allowed but I sneaked mine out when he wasn't looking and took some photos. No flash so they are blurred - sorry!
Here is the Spider Room where the bands used to play once the place got really popular. Pete painted the spider and John & Pete painted the panels on the ceiling.
Before the spider room was used for the bands, the music used to be played in this little alcove thing. Paul painted the rainbow ceiling (can't see it in this photo). That mic stand is the same one as in the photo of Paul. The amp on the left was the first proper amp that they had, bought for them by Mona.
Here is the club's piano that Paul played a million times. It is now no longer a piano but is something else rather useful.
So yeah. Visit the Casbah.

It was amazing, and nothing like it was on my last visit back in 1999!
(It's amazing what you can find on the internet, eh Lucy?)
I personally thought this was better than any other place the Beatles had played - aside from the Jac of course - as the atmosphere is just totally different. Also it's one of the only paces that is still just the same as it was before it was! (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun!)
I do really want to go and visit Hamburg though....

I've had quite a few stalkers over the years at Beatleweek!!! I seem to be a weirdo-magnet!!!
Not that I'm calling you a weirdo.....I think you and I are probably a higher class of stalker!!!

You can certainly count yourself in with the rest of us high class stalkers, Lucy!!!
I had a Brazillian stalker at Beatleweek once...he told me he was a doctor...then he wanted to show me how good his English was by telling me ALL the parts of the body...sooo creepy!!!
