‘The Long and Winding Road’
Okay, maybe Paul envisioned a more modest, stripped-down arrangement for “The Long and Winding Road” than what appeared on the Let It Be album. But I think that Phil Spector’s orchestration was pretty good and fit the song — choir and all. I certainly don’t think Spector’s arrangement is as bad as Paul has been saying over the years; not bad enough to signal “the end of the Beatles,” as Paul said when he first heard it. (On the other hand, maybe I’m just used to it.)

The orchestration is ok. It gives the song a certain majesty.
The choir is a bit over the top though.
I am luke warm about the song.
Three number one hits from that album though. More than most bands careers - and it's considered one of their worst albums too!

Well, I like it. As to the Naked v. Spector, I have mixed reactions. Some of the songs are better on the one and others better on the other. I prefer the Specterized Road as I do Let it Be. In my opinion both benefited from the fuller sound, although maybe a little over the top at times.

Long and winding road without the Spector production is just a run of the mill ballad.
