Mono Box Set Availible in Some Stores on 9/9/09

I know that a ton of talk has gone on RE: Mono bex set availability and how it's sold out on various websites. Well my brother works at a local Best Buy near Detroit, MI and told me that both the Stereo and Mono box sets are in the store's stock room right now (along w/ the game), he saw them with his own eyes, and will be available for purchase in store on 9/9/09.

Looks like even w/o the preorder you'll be able to find Mono sets at some stores on Wednesday.

Sweet! Maybe more people, who want the mono box will get lucky, and be able to get one.

in the end, few who really want them will be denied- too much money to be made...

Is he sure? I called my "local" Best Buy on Tuesday (9/1) and asked if I would be able to buy a mono box set off the shelf and the associate said no, they were sold out. Maybe he just didn't know what he was talking about.

Why would he not know what he is talking about if he saw them with his own eyes...Not all Best Buys are a like. I live in Chicago, there are three stores, one is getting three stereo boxes and zero mono boxes. I haven't checked the other branches, but I am sure the stores on Michigan avenue and North and Clyborne will have the mono boxes. It all depends per location. Hell, on the Sunday flier it says that only stores in NJ will guarantee having the stereo box sets. I have a mono box reserved at my local borders, too bad it's $300...

To be fair, I was talking about the Best Buy associate I talked to, not a fellow 'Linker. If he says he saw them with his own eyes, then that's hard to disprove.

I guess this is what happens when I put off pre-ordering to the last minute. Also, I'm in the middle of Pennsylvania. We never get the good stuff here.

Just to be clear on how sure I am that MY local Best Buy will have the Mono Set, I canceled my Amazon order over the weekend.

So who is going to be at Best Buy, at 10am when they open? I really hope they're not pulling some kind of midnight madness thing, because I won't be able to go get the mono box from them. I hope I can just go there when it opens and get the box sets. I remember no problems getting the capitol albums when they came out, hopefully all the hard core fans bought theirs off amazon already...

To the best of my knowledge, Best Buy in my area is not opening at 12 AM on Wed. If they are, I will find out tomorrow when my brother gets home from work around 6 PM. I'll let you know either way but the best way to be sure is to call your local store.

Just to correct what Batman posted, NJ Best Buy stores are the only ones guaranteed to stock the mono set, although there's no indication as to quantity. All BB locations will have at least one copy of the stereo box.

As far as a midnight madness sort of thing, my local BB isn't doing anything along those lines at least. Fortunately I don't have class on Wednesday so I'm gonna make a 10 AM run to pick up the stereo set.

Not sure if I should post this here but - Have any of you gotten an email from Best Buy saying your box was shipped? I ordered it online on August 15 but have received no email.

Nope, I ordered my mono box set from Best Buy on the same day, as you did. The rep I spoke to last week told me that they wouldn't start shipping until the 9th. So, we may not hear anything until then.

Yeah, really! I ordered a stereo box through them, as well. So, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for both of them.

Abbeyrd said that some people have gotten notified by BestBuy.com that their orders have shipped--but I haven't gotten anything yet. Maybe it has to do with your shipping option? I did free shipping of course. But I really would love to have some extra confirmation that I'm definitely getting my mono set...

I did free shipping as well, it's either that or the date we ordered it. When did you order yours? And yeah I'm kind of getting paranoid I won't get it so I keep checking my order status quite a lot.

I ordered it August 17 and according to the status it's "Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 - 2 days" which I'm not sure if that means it's being prepped to ship or what.

I mean, I'm sure that as soon as they ran out, they removed the listing, so our orders should be secure...but once Abbeyrd said that some people were getting notices I have to admit I'm semi-nervous. Hopefully for nothing.

Mine says the same thing, but yeah I'm sure they would have removed the listing. Here's to hoping we all get them tomorrow if not this week.
