Default Song Of The Day Vol. 2

Since it's Tuesday why not move back to the Rolling Stones, for the wonderful psycedelic

Ruby Tuesday

I love many of these slower songs and this is one of them

Great to be back in the psycedelic period with flutes, strange sounds and this fantastic piano

RUBY TUESDAY Lyrics

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
And nothing's lost
At such a cost

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

There's no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

The Stones wrote a few good melody songs that are classic and this is one.

What a great Stones song...and appropriately for a Tuesday!

Those are really fab lyrics.

For today, how about Tiny Dancer from Uncle Elton.

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can't hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Those are awesome lyrics although I don't know the song .... yet

Reading them I softly spoke along and they are so cool and poetic. I can just see someone from the Monty team - Michael Palin? - perform them on stage somewhere.

One of Elton's best. The music is dramatic and dynamic and really worth a download or even a purchase.

Let's have a Simon & Garfunkel song today.

One of the cool 1970 "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album

Very nice for when your driving

Baby Driver

Verrry nice vocals, a real clear acoustic guitar, a dancing bas loop through the song, hand clapping, tambourine, fantastic to tap along with when driving whatever you're driving.

Part of the song reminds me of another favorite band of mine, 10CC. And the motor sounds at the end also are familiar

Great song on a very sunny Sunday in Rotterdam :teeth:

Baby Driver Lyrics

My daddy was the family bassman
My mamma was an engineer
And I was born one dark gray morn
With music coming in my ears
In my ears.

CHORUS
They call me Baby Driver
And once upon a pair of wheels
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.

My daddy was a prominent frogman
My mamma's in the Naval reserve
When I was young I carried a gun
But I never got the chance to serve
I did not serve.

CHORUS

My daddy got a big promotion
My mamma got a raise in pay
There's no-one home, we're all alone
Oh come int my room and play
Yes we can play.

I'm not talking about your pigtails
But I'm talking 'bout your sex appeal
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.

Next up I want to go back to Eric Clapton's "461 Ocean Boulevard" and the track "Motherless Children". The intro just blows me away, perhaps needlles to say but that man can play guitar.

Fantastic choise Legs, this is still my favorite EC studio album.

Indeed an amazing opening of an album and apart from that great guitar, also the drums make that sound.

I have played this one so much and what always struck me was the opening two songs. First this rocking Motherless Children and then the so beautiful and inspiring Give Me Strength.

I like to suggest a Madonna Song of her latest album, "Secret", a real cool and jazzy kinda pop song

Secret Lyrics

Things haven't been the same
Since you came into my life
You found a way to touch my soul
And I'm never, ever, ever gonna let it go

Bridge:

Happiness lies in your own hand
It took me much too long to understand
How it could be
Until you shared your secret with me

Chorus:

Mmm mmm (skip for the first two times)
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

You gave me back the paradise
That I thought I lost for good
You helped me find the reasons why
It took me by surprise that you understood
You knew all along
What I never wanted to say
Until I learned to love myself
I was never ever lovin' anybody else

(bridge)
(chorus, repeat)
(bridge)
(chorus, repeat)

Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret
Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret
Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret for me

Mmm mmm, mmm mmm, mmm mmm

I thought that album with Frozen was a great one, Ray of sunglight? But after that she lost me again. Can't say I know this song, perhaps some others.

Well let's have a look at WinMX.
If I don't get the message from Ms. Madonna telling me "what the fuck am I doing".

I'm kind of lost with the "latest" album stuff. I thought her latest album was called American Life and it was not so much of a big success as the two previous ones (Ray Of Light and Music). And this particular song sounds so 1995...

I'm going to look at Allmusic.com

............

I was wrong: 1994. Album's called Bedtime Stories (go figure!). The other hit from this album was a soft song called "Take A Bow" which had a torero black and white video. Huge hits, both of them.

"Secret" reminds me of other ages... I suppose that's why I can't hate the song, even though I do not like it either... Thanks for bringing up some good memories of school days!
