Default Favourtie Tom Petty songs, part two.

The poll bit of part 1 since to have gone, so I start a new poll with some old and some new Petty favourites.

I've got loads of favourite Tom songs and like Dylan's they change from day to day. As I said somewhere else I love the albums Full Moon Fever and Into The Great Wide Open (both very Wilbury sounds ) and right now my favourite is Zombie Zoo. But as I say that'll probably change tomorrow......

Cool

"Free Fallin'" is my favorite song of his, and one of my favorites overall. I admire the abbility of saying so much in so very few words.

All of the above wasn't a choice~ I like quite a lot of his stuff, esp. from Full Moon Fever. You're so bad is a fun fave.

Don't Do Me Like That.

Besides the incredible and unaffected American Girl, I like just about all of Damn The Torpedoes the best and think it's his best overall record.

I voted for "Running Down a Dream" from the list. But my actual favorite song that he does is Feel a Whole Lot Better, even though it's a remake of a Byrds song.

Talking

i voted for into the great wide open

i like that he is telling a story in this song, and some

of the lines..."the skyyyyyyyyyy waaaaaaaaaaaas the limit!"

and my fave, "a rebel without a clue..." i probably like that

line because i can relate to it on a personal level.

I'm getting more and more into Tom Petty as time goes on. He is a fantastic artist and is very underrated in the UK. His albums around the late 80's/early 90's are top class. Full MoonFever, Into The Great Wide Open and Wildflower are full of singalong rock anthems and could easily have fitted into a Traveling Wilbury album.
His debut album, Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) and The Last DJ are others are currently have and all impress me although the latter lost it's way a bit. With a new album soon, I'm glad I discovered Petty and maybe The Wilburys owe more to him than I previously thought.

I agree that Tom is very underated, but I also just got really into his music. I discoverd him around the time of and because of the Traveling Wilburys I admit. Started with a greatest hits compilation, then bought Wildflowers when it first came out, together with "Full Moon Fever"."Into The Great Wide Open" quickly followed, but for a long time that would be it. I almost have a complete collection now, and would remove many songs from the current poll and add new favourites in, "The Last DJ" as example.
I still would vote for "A Higher Ground" tho. It remains my favourite Tom Petty song.
Uplifting rock song with clever lyrics.

I agree with that, but I think it was on part one of the poll and I wanted other songs on part two. Or I just forgot, great song tho.

American Girl - 2 votes

I still think "A higher ground" is among the best things he did, and judging by the lack of agreement or comments, either very underrated or just not known by fans.

I have actually been listening to the She's the One soundtrack, and I admit is is a lopsided album but the good stuff on the album is among the best he's ever done. My favs from that one is Walls, Angel Dream, and Hope You Never.

Choosing a favorite Petty song is definately like choosing one for the Beatles, each and everyone has a different quality, and they are all fantastic. So I can't really decide one any one Petty song.
