I understand the logic of legalizing it, but then WE would start selling it, and there would be another thing for me to card people for.

Thumbs up!
Glad to see that there are so many open-minded people here!
In L.A., it's practically legal already! (For now, at least...) I'm all for it.
All you youngins who haven't tried it... well, IF you're going to try alcohol, then I suggest you try pot instead. It's muuuuuuch better... no one really gets aggressive or sick. And it heightens all your senses... not just for music (as several people ahead of me have posted), but for other things as well! <wink, wink>

I was a pothead years ago... I'm not bothered by it at all. Love the smell and the taste... but having a baby doesn't allow for any pot time. If I end up on a night off with buddies and someone has a joint, I'll toke.

I was thinking about legalizing pot on the way to work today, and I thought about the problems police might have with it. People can easily lace pot with harder drugs like cocaine, and this would make it harder for police to identify cokeheads.. I mean if it's legal, can't they just "hide" it in their joints?

why would 'they' want to?
over the last 35yrs, i've never ever heard of anyone having their cannabis laced with cocaine.
anyway, if it were legal the whole production side of things would be a lot different than it is now. also most folk would grow their own, so no fear of contamination.
if the government got involved[because of the huge profits], then the quality would be controlled too.

They can easily lace cocaine with regular ciggies, too. People are always going to take that extra step to amp up their highs no matter what. Ever watch "Intervention"? I mean if they can make crack (or whatever it is) out of cough syrup, then nothing that's seemingly harmless is safe either. Including marijuana.

I'm a very honest person, so here goes nothing-
I started smoking pot my freshmen year of high school after something major (well, in retrospect, it was nothing but I was a very silly girl back then) happened in my personal life. I basically looked for anything that could take my mind off of what happened and how hurt I was. So, I smoked a lot of pot. And then summer came and I smoked even more pot. You know how they say that you don't really get high the first or second time, and after that you're good to go? I was the complete opposite. I was high as a kite for the first 5-6 times, and then after that I got steadily more tolerant. By the time summer was over, I could barely get high at all. I went on a date in my sophomore year with a guy (who turned out to be an amateur drug dealer ) and all we did was smoke pot. That's all he wanted to do with me that night. Because I wasn't getting high, I was bored out of my mind. I still can't get high, and I really don't care enough to do anything about it. I have friends that do it sometimes and I'll take a puff here and there maybe, sure - but it's not part of my life anymore. I have no problem if people are doing it around me or whatever, I just don't take part in it.
There are much better things I think people could do with their drug money, but I think it would be really helpful if they legalized pot.

Those that are against legalizing cannabis, HAVE NEVER SMOKED IT, or they won't admit it!

I think drugs should be legal, regulated and taxed. That should put a huge dent in the street crime problem, leaving us to deal with the graft created by the government offices who regulate and tax said drugs.
