I do agree with Driving Rain... it would fit better a rocky Paul song!

And I do agree with you on Your Way, my personal DR's favourire... it's so good, but has not such a strenght to be put as a single

My choices for singles would be, in order

Driving Rain
Your Loving Flame (I would have said I Do... if it wasn't for the thing I found lol)
Spinning on an Axis

Still partial to "Lonely Road", a rocker after a ballad. I agree, "Magic" and "Heather" are also faves of mine, but not potential mainstream successes.

Awww, I forgot Tiny Bubble, how could I? This has the strenght for a single, and it's so cute!

I would pick Lonely Road, Tiny Bubble, Driving Rain, maybe even Spinning on an Axis. I agree with everyone here who likes Your Way that it is a great song, but just doesn't seem like a single. To be honest, next to Freedom, Your Loving Flame is one of my least favorite songs on the album. It's okay, but it's kind of 'typical'. I'd prefer more of a stretch from him as a single.

Hmmm Magic or Lonely Road. If they could cut Rinse the Raindrops down to 3 minutes that would be a great lively number.

I really thought Freedom would be more popular, but oh well.

My options would be:

Lonely Road (a great song, I can't avoid sing it every time it's on the radio )
About you
I do (a beatiful song, but I'd put it on a B-side)

I like Tiny Bubble too

Default What should be the next \"Driving Rain\" single

Looking from a comercial point of view, I would say the title track, to get the attention back to the whole album. And it's a good song anyway to be released as a single. After the first single (not counting "Freedom") the ballad "From a lover" it's time for a more up tempo, rocking and uplifting song like "Driving Rain" is.

When we're talking about personal favourites. "Your Way" and "Heather" are two of mine, but I don't think they are fit to be released as singles, especially since "Heather" is largly instrumental.
Again I'm thinking about "Driving Rain" but imo "Magic" and "Loving Flame" would be good choises to be released as singles.

So I say first

"Driving Rain"
then
"Your Loving Flame" and then
"Magic"

What do you think.

"Driving Rain" or "Lonely Road".

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but here it seems like the entire concept of "a single" is kind of outdated. Any radio station that plays "singles" wouldn't play Paul anyway and any radio station that plays Paul doesn't limit themselves to only playing singles. And you can hardly buy singles anywhere anymore either. So what is the point of "releasing" them? I'm not trying to be obnoxious here, that's just been my observation.

That said, I'd pick "Lonely Road" - though it's not my favorite on the album (though I do like it), I think it has the most commercial appeal.

I know what you mean... However, in Europe it is different. Europe still has a huge singles market, and radio stations here usually only play singles that have been commercially released (i.e. you can buy them as singles). Apart from that, successful singles usually boast album sales in Europe (LOL of course thatīs not different to the US and itīs the marketing purpose of it) - but you have to BUY them to become successful (German and British singles charts, for example are compiled by sales only). There are good examples for that "sell a single - increase album sales" idea in Europe. Cher and Santana both had hit albums AFTER their singles had been sold in huge quantities. Paul also saw the effect of a hit single - "Off the ground" became his highest-charting (and best-selling) album in years after "Hope of deliverance" had been a single hit (and also went gold, like "Off the ground").

The biggest part of singles are probably sold to a younger audience, so it should be a song that appeals to them as well (at least on this continent).

Hmm, I canīt agree with "Lonely Road" being the song with the most commercial appeal. Itīs a great song, but I donīt think that the average listener/buyer here would care too much for it. LOL, and thatīs the people a strong single is marketed for! Us fans already know! Weīve already bought the album!

I played DR to several people, who usually only listen to the "Top 10 stuff" and most of them liked "Your Loving Flame" and "Tiny Bubble" best. Some also paid attention to "About you" and "Sheīs given up talking" - especially because they wouldnīt have connected these songs to Paul McCartney, as I was told.

I was playing a self-made Macca Mix tape while driving with a friend. While Lonely Road was playing, she said "What's this song? I really like this!" So maybe Lonely Road isn't a bad choice for the next single. At least one other person liked it.

Here it says Paul's currently shooting a video for "Lonely Road".
