I gave the book away after I read it Zipp. and FP, it was my opinion and I didn't mean to put you on the defensive about your friend, but I won't apologize for what I got from the book. It's a matter of semantics and if 'whore' was too strong, then fine, but she made no bones about the fact that she was 'with' the men who were the paramours of her so-called best friends, and I don't find that too noble.

She's not a friend, I just happen to be in contact with her and am not the only one, no offense

Actually, they're just very good friends.

It depends on your lifestyle. The world is full of different lifestyles though the prevailing cultures in a region may dominate, it doesn't stop us from living the life we believe in.

My current soon-to-be ex is also the ex husband of my ex-best friend. It happens. (and no, he didn't leave her for me. I dumped her because she was an a** and then hooked up with him after they 've been separated for five years).

In some groups of polyamorous people, each can get involved with former partners of another. It happens in tight knit communities of which Rock and Rollers of particular eras fall into. and get this: Some of us don't have problems with it especially if we are actually not hung up on said person. Some of my lovers have also been lovers of my friends in the past. I don't see that as a good or bad thing but just a fact. Why should that make him or her off limits to me?

Merridan-Webster defines 'whore' as 1. a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : prostitute; also: a promiscuous or immoral woman. She was a groupie, that's all. If that lifestyle appeals, well, that's personal but promiscuous wouldn't be out of order, that's for sure. Nobody's going to convince me she did it all for 'true love'.

The Beatles themselves were way more promiscuous than Chris O'Dell, or any other woman with whom they came into contact. Why does Webster's only single out women in that entry? I think words like that should encompass both sexes, if used at all.

No one's saying she did it for 'true love' at all. She had sex because she enjoyed it. There's nothing wrong with that and nothing wrong with a person who does enjoy engaging in sexual acts especially if they are responsable and educated about it.

Here here. The Beatles were F****ing whores. That's one of the things I love about them.

what do we call a woman who likes sex? Slut. tramp. whore. I could go on.
what do we call a man who likes sex? a man.

this is why I like hanging out with nerds in sci-fi fandom. women who enjoy sex are the norm there.

Well I've started reading the book again. But something has occurred to me. All I'm really interested in is whether or not she's telling the truth and as far as I can make out she is.

What's so funny about this when it is not even clear who 'they' are supposed to be..

Why is it that some people just love to go off-topic trying to be funny.

That post sounds like buzzkill to me.

I guess one has to have a sense of humor to make attempts at humor.

Wow two months later and I'm still reading the same book! No actually in between time I've read lots of other things.
Anyway I still find the book interesting and informative. Not many people talk about George and Maureen's affair which is one of the most unexpected things to come out of the Beatle era. If only for that I think the book is worth reading.

Imagine tea and light refreshments lovingly prepared by George's sister Lou, who loves him very much.

Imagine it's 1964 and the Beatles are in America, conquering the world and you get invited in for tea and light refreshments with Harold Sr. and Louise and stay for tea and watch the boys on telly, screaming every time there is a close up of George and you love the George decor in their living room. Harold Sr. watches from his favorite chair while you and Louise take a comfortable seat on the settee, drinking your tea, chatting one another up about George's siblings and siblings-in-law, Ford Falcons in America, President Johnson, Civil Rights and of course, George!
