Default Song of the Day

We have a song of the day for the Fabs, the solo Fabs, how about one for this forum for the Not At All Fab?

For today I pick Bridge Over Troubled Waters. We all have those times, and this is a precious friendship song. Good for here at Links, I think.

Great topic HC

Fantastic song too, these guys have combined some great lyrics with an atmosphere in the music which fits like a glove (as if gloves always fit )

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side

When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

One of my favorite SaG songs. I think that in the 60s, they were third to only the Beatles and Bob Dylan when it came to lyrics.

John Lennon always said that Paul McCartney wrote "Let It Be" thinking that it could be his own "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Impossible, since "Let It Be" was written around '69, and "Bridge" came to the public in 1970, when The Beatles were over.

Still, this is such a "goosebumps" song. It's amazing how this set of lyrics can capture your heart and soul, and the angelical voice of Art Garfunkel only make it better. Precious, precious song, a real work of art. Thank you for reminding me of its existence!

That is a stunning song. I've learned to appreciate Art and Paul more as I've gotten older. Especially "Scarborough Fair" and "The Boxer". Can anyone suggest a song of the day, or just moderators? Or just not me, out of fear it may be a Duran Duran song?

Love this song a lot, but I never felt like the last verse really fit in as well as the rest. Still, the singing is so wonderful....

Oh what I put up with to be a Duran Duran fan... Actually, a good Michael Nesmith song might be a good idea for a future song o' the day! I'll leave that up to those more sarcastic than me to decide...

But back to S&G, anyone heard whether they've really ironed out their differences since their performance a few months ago?

I don't care much for the next song, but I stumbled upon this video.

So, today it's more the 'Videoclip of the Day'....
Especially for the guys on the board

Kate Moss's pole dancing video for the new White Stripes single 'I just don't know what to do with myself' can be seen..

I wonder what she is doing with herself I can't play the video!

May I sugest today's song, for the Moody Blues fans out here, Nights In White Satin. Now I would have choisen another Moody song but this is the one most people know, besides it's a clasic and beautiful ballad.

A true classic if there ever was one. Definitely one of my favorite Moody Blues songs.

Nights In White Satin

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end.
Letters I've written him
Never meaning to send.

Beauty I've always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore.

Cos I love you, yes, I love you...

Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand.
Just what i'm going through,
They can't understand.

Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be,
You will be in the end.

And I love you, yes, I love you...
