Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
I got that too. It means there'll be a blue meanie float? I just thought that meant there'll be a blue meanie somewhere (like a guy in a blue meanie costume) in it.

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
The AbbeyRd Beatle news site reports it as a "blue meanie balloon flying over thanksgiving day parade"
I made a mistake in the title of the topic it should be balloon, not float...But thats even better!!!!!!

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
Thanks for the news, Kamer. Think that Blue Meanie might try to fly away when he hears Beatle music?

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has huge helium balloons as part of the display, along with floats. But there are usually not floats that tie in with the balloons, they are distinct and different.
They blow the balloons up the night before over by the Museum of Natural History -- we've gone over there to see the preparations several years in a row. I think maybe we'll do it again this year...we live so close by. Going to the parade is a different story -- people stake out space on Central Park West overnight!

New York, it must be great to live in there. I got the e-mail too, heh, it must be fun, and a character some people wont even recognize.

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
Just goes to show you that nothing is Beatle proof!
Cool! A Beatle inspired idea for the balloon in the parade!

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
It's nice to know that my Thanksgiving will be a little bit nicer. One of my little personal traditions is watching some of the Macy's Parade on tv. I'll keep an eye out for this float especially.

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
Sigh...the weather is VILE here today, freezing cold rain and wind. Definitely NOT the right weather to go watch them blow up the balloons...so we're skipping it. And it isn't supposed to be much better tomorrow until AFTER the parade, so I think we'll be watching on TV too.
One thing about very windy days for this parade, they have to be very careful with the balloons. A few years ago a balloon knocked down a lamppost and it hit a woman and injured her, so ever since then they have been VERY careful on extremely windy days. Tomorrow, even if it clears up, the wind is supposed to gust 30-40 MPH, so they will be carrying the balloons very low down and reining them in. Believe it or not, I think the BEST place to see this balloon will be on television!

The same goes for us here in So.Cal with The Rose Parade. Just because the skies are clear on TV does NOT mean that it's not colder than a witch's you know what outside!!!! Best bet is to snuggle up with a cup of cocoa and a danish and watch in on tv, like Susan said... which is precisely what I will be doing tomorrow waiting for the Blue Meanie to show up!

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
Well it wasnt a balloon or a float was it? I happened to be in Manhattan for a few minutes to go to the store, and i caught a glimpse of the blue meanie which i am glad i did (thats something to give thanks for) but it was just a guy dressed up as The Blue Meanie. Oh well, still nice anyway. Did anyone see him on tv? What were the announcers sayign, probably promoting the new Yellow Sub book.

Re: Blue Meanie Thanksgiving Float!
yeah I caught it on tv. I watched it on CBS and they just showed him walk by. They didnt say anything about it though. They were still talking about the balloon that came before it. They probably didnt even know what it was...
