Re: philmo was back
Hey to all my friends on beatle links.
You know old people who dont work anymore dont have any time and you always wonder what they are doing. I guess its the same with students who have semesterbreaks. I am a student with this problem, so sorry if i cant be on so often.

Re: philmo was back
I loathe math with all of my soul, but I am fairly good at it. I am two years ahead of regular level, so Phil, if you have any questions, I'd love to help.

Re: philmo was back
People, listen, the term 'maths' is an abbreviation of mathematics, therefore the English abbreviation is correct, (sorry US types!) The reason many Europeans use the Americanised abbreviations of many words, or incorrect spellings (sorry, not incorrect, I mean localised!) is that many European schools use US published language texts and tapes. This also goes for Japanese people, who speak English with an American accent.
My hubby is a Maths teach, so I am allowed to show off on this one, and btw, I hate maths too! And Len-Mac, you are NOT silly!

Re: philmo was back
I think that the reason that I hate 'maths' so much is because there is only one answer to a problem. It all has to be the same and there is no room to get creative.

Re: philmo was back
I like math(s) because there is only one correct answer. Ok, if you solve a second grade equotion the are two, but i guess you know what i mean.
When i wrote something in german at school, for a open question, it was never what my teacher thought. In maths it does not depend on the teacher if my solution is right or not, the teacher could not tease me with saying its all wrong. Thats a great advantage, at least for me.

Re: philmo was back
math is essential. math is the universal language. it is impossible to understand squat about the universe w/out math. i love math. i despise numbers. somehow it got into a bunch of people's heads that math has to do with numbers. i don't know how that happened. numbers are one infintesimal part of math. i don't need numbers. i need math. oddly enough, though i love math, i'm horrible at it. even more ironically, i'm horrible at math, yet i'm taking geometry/trig honors as a freshman. hmmm...

Re: philmo was back
No, Eppy. What can we learn from a problem with only one answer? Nothing. Life is about the learning and analysis of different viewpoints and opinions. Okay, I am done playing philosopher for the day.
