The Earthgirl travels to a planet called Lexicon, ruled by a sect of high priests called the Grammarians. They live inside books. They capture the Earthgirl and force her to write a paragraph of text. They turn her paragraph into a steep slope and throw her down it, after warning her that the only thing that can slow her down is punctuation. Quotation marks, question marks, exclamation marks, commas, semi-colons, full-stops, hyphens, dashes - these are all she has to grab onto. The Earthgirl is stricken with terror, realizing that she has written a paragraph consisting of a single sentence with not a puntuation mark anywhere, not even at the end. She falls faster and faster, looking desperately for something to break her fall. But there is nothing. It's just one long slippery slope. "Aaaaaaaaagh!" she exclaims, as she zooms off the end of her own sentence at the speed of a rocket. She lands back on earth in 1963, right on top of Ringo Starr.

"That's always happening to me," he says, climbing to his feet. "I keep getting squashed by girls from outer space who never paid attention at school".

"I hope she never writes a 5000-word story consisting of one long sentence," says John. "You'd have readers shooting off the end at the velocity of light."
