Misconstrued Beatle song lyrics
I think I may have started a thread about Beatle song lyrics gone awry in the past... but I didn't want to go looking for it. So...
Are there any Beatles lyrics that you had gotten totally wrong when you first became a fan? I've got plenty of 'em.... but I will begin with "A Day In The Life", where I had gotten more than one line all wrong:
"Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head...". I always thought Paul was singing, "Woke up, fell out of bed, tried to come across my head...".
I thought, as a young boy, that "come across my head" might have been some British slang for "waking up", or "gathering one's wits about them".
Also... "... four-thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire...". I thought John was singing, "... for thousand holes in Blackburn Land this year...".
Ha ha! I was a kid!

Correct lyric:
You can get married in Gilbatrar, near Spain
Misheard lyric:
You can get married and get a sprain
"The Ballad Of John And Yoko"

"Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner..."
But I used to understand:
"Jojo was a man who thought he was a doughnut"

Rain...
Following "When the sun shines they slip into the shade"
I heard "And sit there, (our) minds are made"
Instead of "And sip their lemonade."

I am the walrus-
'If the sun don't come you get to turn(a tan?) from standing in the English(endless?) rain...'

Penny Lane-
'A pretty nurse is selling puppies from a train, and though she feels as if she's in a play..."

In "Norwegian Wood":
So I lit a fire, isn't it good? Norwegian wood.
became
So I let her fly, isn't it good? Norwegian wood.
Kinda changes the entire perspective of the song, doesn't it? It always made sense to me: This bird has flown. So I let her fly...
