Default The New Beatles?

A friend of mine just sent me this link:
http://www.newbeatles.com

Apparently this group has been using this name for at least thirteen years. My friend was amazed they've been able to get away with it for so long. Makes you wonder if the Beatles or their families know about this.

As quoted in the history section - "The New Beatles were originally a private project, never intending on "public" performances."

Then whyare there pics of them doing outside performances. Someone official needs to get in touch with them (as people may think they're a tribute band), and I know just the person.

If these guys have been around since 1989, someone in the music world, with connections with Apple, would have caught wind of this.

I don't know about the music world in general, but I've heard of 'em before... even seen those websites before.

makes me wonder about copywrite laws. If the name is slightly changed, should they be allowed to get away with it? What if you called your group "The Rollin Stoned". Should one get sued for that?

I would say probably not, unless
there were direct, negative referances to
the Stone's songs.
