Default Come Again?

In relation to Sourmilkpinky's post about the english language, here are a few other things from my Communication studies text book to make you smile...:) (Read them twice!)

Newspaper headlines:

Meat shortage: MP's attack minister
Balloon race: six drop out
H. C Parr of Glasgow was second in the class for dairy shorthorn cows
Bikini schoolgirl suspended by head
Super train talks
Indian women make beautiful carpets
Injury forces Connors to scratch
Reagan picks his spot
Vietnamese families settle in well

from a book:

moments later she was laughing again as she wiped the dishes with her daughter

Signs in Shops:

Why kill yourself with your weekly wash? Use electricity instead!
We won't tear your clothes with a washing machine! We'll do it carefully by hand
All the teachers in our school are certified

Lost in translation (Signs and newspapers headlines written by people who don't speak english very well!)

If you are satisfactory, please tell your friends, if you are insatisfactory, then warn the waitress
Please don't lay any stranger bodies in the WC
four miles away officer Tippitt was shot by his patrol car
I got lost in the dessert

Hee hee those are great.
It reminds me of two store signs I saw a few months ago... You know when the lightbulbs burn out? By chance, they can spell out some pretty funny things.

For example, a bookstore here by the name of "New Concept BOOKS" has become "New Concept BO." And a Salvation Army place, which has a sign that reads "Thrift Store," turns into "T I T S" after the sun goes down.

Haha, those are great! I feel sorry for those who are learning English as a second language, they must think we're positively crazy.

exactly, english is supposed to be one of the hardest languages to learn because the words can be so complex even without slang or dialect added on top. For example, You run a race, and you run a bath and you run a shop and have a chicken run. Blimey, I wouldn't fancy it!
