your first magical beatles moment?
I remember it like it was yesterday.I dont think I could have been more than 7 years old. At the time I knew pratically nothing about the Beatles. I didn't own a single record by them and I only had a vague notion of who they were probably through popular culture (although from what I recall the Beatles were no way near as big in the 80's as they are now). Anyways my parents were going to drop my brother off at the airport and I went along for the ride. It was about 5:00 am in the morning. It was chilly and just starting to get light out. Just as my father turned on the car You Never Give Me Your Money started to play on the radio. From the first few notes I just knew that this was the best thing I had ever heard and somehow I knew it was the Beatles (even though I knew NOTHING about them as a baand). I even remember hesitatingly asking my parents "Is... that... the Beatles?"

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
I don't know if I have a real "magical" moment, but I'll put what comes close.
I had heard a little bit about the Beatles when I was younger but not much. I had seen part of the anthology and was very keen on Paul (even being 9 I was still a bit of a hornbag ). One day I pulled out the Red Album (1962-1966) and started listening to it. I was reading through some of the lyrics and saw "Yeh, yeh, yeh" (I'm into that kinda stuff: Yeh Yeh Yeh's, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, La di da's, etc etc etc) and turned to She Loves You and I fell in love with that song.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
Hmm... this is going pretty far back into my memory. One of the first I can recall was watching The Compleat Beatles documentary on TV, really the first time I was acquainted with the whole Beatles "story". I remember seeing their Washington DC performances in that documentary and being mesmerized. My parents were taping the show in the other room, and that tape somehow made it mysteriously into my own movie collection within a week.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
Despite numerous chances, I didn't become a HUGE Beatles fan until January of last year. When I was in third grade or so, I was at my friend's house and she was obssessed with the Beatles. She had a poster of them ("oh, boys- gross!" I thought), she worshiped their music ("sounds terrible"), and claimed that they had written a song for her ("yeah right Martha, they don't even know you..."). But I just couldn't appreciate them yet. Then later on, my dad bought Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper on CD, and I had a brief love affair with those CD's... and then it fizzled out, as I slowly became brainwashed by the Top 40 pop songs of the day.
Then finally last January, things clicked: I heard Abbey Road in a friend's car and loved it without knowing it was by the Beatles, and my mom rented the movie A Hard Day's Night. I loved the music so much that I found all my parents' Beatles records- with funny titles, like "Revolver," and funny covers, like this one that was just white... From then on, there was no stopping me. It was just "oh that magic feeling..." and I suddenly realized that my existence somehow had been less meaningful until I truly discovered the Beatles.
And the love keeps growing!

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
I'm not sure if I can remember my first magical moments with the Beatles... when I began to get interested in them, I had no idea what I was getting into, and a lot of my memories about them at the beginning are a little vague. I didn't realize I was starting such a huge obsession with them!
I guess the moment that stands out most in my mind is when I watched my first Beatles documentary on TV... it was called The Beatles Revolution with Meredith Blake. I have it taped and have watched it a hundred times since then. When I first watched it, I couldn't tell which Beatle was which; at that time I don't think I could even tell you what their names were. But as I watched that, something clicked and after it finished, I went to the computer, got on Napster, and started downloading every song I could find! After that, I knew they weren't just another band.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
mine was the night of feb.9,1964.I was 11 years old and staying at my grandparents because my mom was in the hospital.I wanted to go play and my 16 year old aunt had to practicaly tie me down to watch them telling me i'd regret it in the future if i didn't watch .she was so right . That night changed this 11 year olds life. She always kidded me about that thru the years until she died in 2000.I never stopped thanking her about making me stay and watch them and still thank her at her gravesite.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
My Magical moment was hearing them on my transistor radio for the first time, I was so charged, I thought now that is music, those teen magazines built my love, then I saw them live on Ed Sullivan, I am still in love with their magic 40+ years later...

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
I knew of a group called the Beatles while growing up, and also knowing that they broke up and that one of them was dead. I just didn't know which one. I knew a few of their songs like "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "She Loves You", and "Let It Be." I'd heard other Beatles songs then too, but didn't know it was them until later on.
I was in Florida for Spring Break, 1994, visiting my grandparents. She put on a tape called "Beatlemania: Live at Wintergarden Theater." I knew nothing of the play called "Beatlemania." I thought the group on the tape was the real Beatles! After listening to that tape, I asked my grandma if I could copy it. She said I could and on the way home, during the 20 hour drive, I don't think that tape left my walkman. That was when I was 15. Not long after that, I remember finding the 8-track in the stack that my grandparents had at that time, "Beatlemania: Live at Wintergarden Theater" 1977 (or maybe it was 1978). I remember recopying the tape because the first one didn't have all the songs. It was also the first time I figured out that working an 8-track player was annoying! I kept on pressing the buttons, each one going to another song, wondering when the tape would go back to the beginning. It finally did and I copied it and stopped pressing those blasted buttons! Oh, also, by this time, I knew the group on the tape/8-track wasn't the real Beatles. After that vacation, I went straight to the record player and found the "Red," "White," and "Blue" albums and played them over and over when no one was home. As time when on, my aunt gave me a few of her Beatles albums. I even had the cut-outs to the Sgt. Pepper album...but they've mysteriously disappeared since then.
I'll never forget one of those days when I had been home alone, listening to the "Red" album, playing "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and "Girl" over and over. I remember my sister's friend coming over to see her. I clearly remember her walking through the door. It was summer and she had on overall-shorts. She had said "hi" to me and went to wait for my sister in the other room. It was the last time I saw her. She was killed in a car accident not long after that. She was 20 then. It's funny how memories stick like that. Not all of them good. There were many times like that, me listening to the records...playing songs over and over.
Ten years, cassette tapes, and later CDs (Beatles and solo-Beatles) later, my love for them is still going strong.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
unwrapping 1 christmas morning 2000, running upstairs to my room, playing the CD and flipping through the liner notes literally ALL DAY until i knew every note, every lyric, every facial expression. . . i'd had beatle experiences before, but that was when it really hit me
another one would be when i fully realized the wonder that is george. i was listening to 1 and accidently let the CD go from john and yoko to something(after my initial listen on christmas morning, i hadn't listened to it since), which i had decided was just "like, the worst song ever!" on my way over to change the CD it hit me that i had been wrong. it was in fact a stunningly mindblowing song. i listened to it over and over. i couldn't figure out whether john or paul was singing, so i went online to look it up and--lo and behold!--it was george

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
OK, then.
I was a kid in 1964 and outside with my friend when he held a transistor radio to my ear and it was that new song, I Want To Hold Your Hand.
There was nothing like it before and it was captivating and blew everything else that was on the radio out of the water.
The orchestration was simply perfect. It had guitars up front, infectious harmony and lead vocals, and a rock beat that could not be denied.
And that was it. Music would never be the same.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
Ah, yes, the first Beatles experience. I was in third grade, way back in 1994, and my music class learned three new songs in one day. They were Yellow Submarine, Octopus's Garden and All Together Now. I was so impressed, I sang them for my parents that night over dinner. After dinner, my daddy, not born until 1963 but a Beatles fan anyway, played me Abbey Road on CD. I was thrilled to already know one of the songs! Soon after, I got the "Blue Album," Please Please Me and Rubber Soul on CD as Christmas presents, and I've been a Beatlemaniac ever since! God bless you, Mr. Smith, for turning me on to the greatest band I'll ever hear.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
my first Beatles experience i was like 7 or 8 (not to long ago since im only 15) i was watching the movie "Ferris Buellers day off" and theres a part when hes on a parade float and twist and shout comes on and i just remember say "i LOVE this song" and my dad told me it was by the Beatles. Theres also part in the movie where he says:
"I quote John Lennon, I do not believe in Beatles i just believe in me...after all he was the Waslrus, i could be the walrus....." anyway thats what i remember being the first time i ever heard them.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
I remember it well. I was 12 and coming home from holiday. My brother had a cassette of the Red Album playing and initially I didn't want to listen to it because they were 'old'. D'oh!
After a while I listened to it and started to sing along, learning the lyrics. When I got home I did my own copy of the Red album and listened to it occasionally.
I started collecting when I was 13 and was at a carboot sale. Firstly I bought an original Revolver LP cover (no record), then an original copy of Abbey Road, 3 old Beatle Monthly magazines, 'The Beatles at the Royal Palladium', 'Fabulous' suppliment with Beatles lyrics and a pack of ChuBop gum with the 'Reel Music' cover - still in its shrinkwrapping. All for 20 pounds.
Today that lot could sell easily for 70-100 pounds.

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
I think it was when i first heard sgt. pepper. Before that i was a casual fan, not knowing much more than the early songs. Then when I was around 12, i gave sgt. pepper a good listen and i was amazed! From then it just took off

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
Mine was most-likely when my friend showed me them performing "I'm Down" on the Ed Sullivan show for the 2nd or 3rd time (but this time I really listened), and I just thought to myself "Wow they are really good! And even live thay sound the same" (I’m ashamed of how long it took me to figure that out! ). After that I took to it strongly and I was hooked! And so after that I have always had a special place in my heart for "I'm Down" .

Re: your first magical beatles moment?
My first magical Beatles moment was after I had been watching the movie, Vanilla sky. The filmsong was written by Paul. I heard the song and I said: It's a fantastic voice. It was two years ago. Now I am a huge Beatles and Paul McCartney fan and I have all the Beatles albums.

(Tiff, this is the moderator speaking -- I had to go in and edit your thread a bit because all that giberish you posted made your post extend WAY out of the box and made the ENTIRE THREAD difficult to read...I didn't take out anything except a lot of your exclamation points and ranting, but in future, please be aware of this...it's okay to be enthusiastic about John, but please try to control yourself, you'll spurt! Thank you. -- Nipper)
***************
My first magical moment... At the time it wasn't so magical to me until later. Sha'll I just say, my first introduction to the Beatles?
4th grade: My music teacher in elementary school, Julie Parkinson, was a Beatles fan. She had our class do a "choir concert" type thing for Christmas and present it to our parents. My mom was never into that stuff and would never take us. She just was neve interested. Anyway, one Christmas song we learned to sing was "Happy X-mas (War Is Over). Ok, this is the only song I remember through out all those years. It stuck to me. So whenever I heard it, I knew who it was - John Lennon. I didn't go to the concert, no one wanted to go. But then my friend Sarah, Miranda (Sister), and I went down to the school where we usually hung out at. The gym, where they were at, had a glass door so we could look in. That we did. I swear when I went, they were singing "Happy Xmas" and I looked in the crowd and I saw them crying. At the time I didn't understand why. I think they were crying for John now that I think of it. The next day we went back to school and Mrs. Parkinson says that they were all great and the parents cried because they were so great! LOL... I saw it was because of John. Also in her class, she had us listen to the Help! album on CD and I am sure we listened to other things.
Onward... I do not know what grade I was in but I think my sister sang Happy X-Mas (War Is Over) in choir.
7th grade: My sister played a joke on me (I do not want to say what it is because she may be mad at me if I do?) so I decided to get her back. It wasn't as serious as hers, not even serious -- this is my life changing experience, a start anyway. I decided to tell Miranda (sister) that Sarah (friend since before I even started school) and I was in love the with the Beatles and John Lennon. I told her that we saw a program on them on VH-1 (which was a lie too). So I went and told her. MIRANDA DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO THE BEATLES WERE!!! OR JOHN LENNON!!!!! AND SHE SANG JOHN'S SONG IN CHOIR. So I explained to her, seemingly it was now worthless, I told her the truth. Why did I decide to do this, I do not know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -I was thinking this was going to come back on me- AND I AM GLAD IT DID ANYWAY!
Later that year I was switched to a different class. We had to do a biography on a person. Mrs. Joseph got a bunch of books to choose from and one of the people were John Lennon - she said, "For those who really like music as Tiffany does, may want to do a report on John Lennon." That was one of my choices - I knew Barry Gibb really liked the Beatles. I was really into the Bee Gees at the time. So I went to do a report on Barry but couldn't because I couldn't find a book and a book was required. So I picked John Lennon just incase. So it was John who I did my report on. I started to read about John's life, as I never knew anything about him before, it was so interesting. I loved how he came up with his songs, his childhood was so interesting to read about, and I loved his views on life, peace, love and other things as well. I was amazed. I took notes to help me out with my report and when I got home, I was ready to write! Just by reading these things about John, I started to fall in love with him, as a person.
While doing this report, I was almost finished, we had to watch Channel One news. It was a requirement to do so eachday. It announced that George Harrison had died. I yelled out, "I AM DOING A REPORT ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and everyone said, "SHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I went to ask my teacher who it was who passed away and she wouldn't answer SHE WAS SO UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got home and it was the weekend now. I got a magizene through the mail with George on the front cover. I read more about him and the Beatles. I got really interested so I looked up them online.
Another magical thing, my friend Ashley gave me her brother's 1 CD for Christmas. I got it early and I loved every single song on the CD! I loved it all. So I decided that I really liked them. I got Lennon Legend for Christmas from my parents because I really liked "Happy Xmas". IT IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY CHILDHOOD!
From then on, I have been on obsessive Beatles fan!!!!!!! BUT IT TOOK A BEATLES LIFE AND PRACTICALLY MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD TO REALIZE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! BUT THE BEATLES ARE MY WHOLE WORLD, MY LIFE, OMG WHEN I SAID THAT, MY PERFUME BOTTLE FELL ON THE FLOOR WHERE MY BEATLE MUSIC IS PLAYING AND IT WASN'T EVEN ON THE EDGE... OHHH JOHN, GEORGE... Re: your first magical beatles moment?
My first magical Beatles moment was seeing them on the Ed Sullivan Show all those years ago. I remember telling my parents that I was going to marry John Lennon someday. They said, "he's already married" and I said, "that's okay, he'll divorce her". I love them just as much today as I did back then, probably even more so now. I had other "favorites" over the years but the Beatles have always remained at the toppermost of the poppermost for me and will always remain there.
