Default Font Size

Is there any way you can change the size of the font in your posts?

I don't think so, that probably wouldn't be a good idea anyway, I can imagine what some posts would look like. But you can definitely change the color, make it bold, use italics, etc.

A little neat trick you can do to read a larger font is this:

If you use an IE Browser and a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can either shrink or enlarge the font you see on your computer. Simply hold down the "Control" key and turn the mouse wheel forward to shrink the fonts. Turning it the opposite direction will enlarge them.

This way it will only change the settings on your computer and you'll be able to read things better. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Jerry. I was using the 'quote' facility to, erm, quote from another website and the font looked ridiculously small in the preview - Kat's tip may well be a way to make quoted posts legible, though..!

That particular feature only works on webpages with unspecified font sizes...

If you're having troubles reading the posts due to their size, one way to "enlarge" the fonts is to reduce the resolution of your screen. On a PC running Windows, right click somewhere on the desktop and select properties. Select the settings tab, and on that "page", you will be offered the chance to reduce your resolution. This will also affect how you see graphics such as photos, since they will also be enlarged. You will also probably have to scroll sideways (much like we all have to do when someone posts an overly large picture, or strings together 50 gazillion exclamation points) - it can be a huge hassle. But this is one way to do it.

Another way is to ignore webpage specifications. I'm only familiar with IE, so you'll need to search elsewhere for ways to do this with any other browser. This will affect all font sizes on the page without making the images larger.

On the browser tool bar, select tools, then internet options. Now, choose the general tab, and click accessibility. Now, you can simply "ignore" specified font sizes, font styles, and even colors.

By the way, ignoring colors will not only ignore the colors of the fonts, but also color backgrounds of all elements on the page...

But you did, Kitty Kat - few of us knew of the trick you told us of. It's much more useful than the 2 offerings I made, because you can implement it at will with barely a pause. Changing one's resolution messes everything up - and will cause certain programs to run erratically, if at all. Overriding font specs by ignoring them would probably work better (and is quicker to implement than messing about with one's res), and the beauty of it is this:

Once you've ignored font sizes and styles, your trick really makes things stand out!

Oh, yes - I like your trick!
