Default ... "it was forty-eight years ago today ... "

About 48 years ago, when I was 11, I clearly remember huddleing around our TV with my two younger sisters to watch the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

We were all so excited ... like the rest of the country. The Beatles became my favorite group and the old records I recently started buying/playing again I still remember all the words to. I just finished reading their biography by Bob Spitz and also "Here, There and Everywhere" by Geoff Emerick as I'm quite sure most of you here have. It really opened up new views for me of the fab four. Knowing more about their up-bringing and the hows and whys of all the great music they created. I think John became my favorite after reading his life's story. Glad to be a part of your community and looking forward to joining in. Peace Mike

Glad you're here, Ispin! Who's your favorite Beatle?

On the face of it there's probably a long list of negative things you could say about John Lennon. But after reading more about him ... I admire his "in your face" attitude.
I remember reading a story about somebody making a crude remark to John after returning from his trip to Spain with Brian. He promptly proceded to beat the guy senseless.
I think more than any of the others he embodied the spirit that made the Beatles ..."The Beatles". RIP
