Default Disney torpedoes Yellow Submarine remake

The Walt Disney Co. has deep-sixed Mars Needs Moms producer Robert Zemeckis’ planned next project for the studio, the high-profile remake of the classic Beatles film Yellow Submarine, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Personally, I can't say I'm upset by this news. I never thought it was a good idea. Buy the original. Kids the world over--not to mention grownups-- continue to be charmed by the 1968 film. It's a classic.

I agree—the original Yellow Submarine was a classic, and I was afraid Disney would try to glamour up its new version and make it terrible.

And I thought about how they were ever going to replicate the scene at the end. You KNOW which one I'm talking about...right before All Together Now??? LIVE Beatles.
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! Just the thought....
See, that's one of the great thrills of the movie. It was for me, at any rate.
You're watching this incredible psychedelic cartoon and then, like magic, there they are, THE BEATLES! In the flesh!
And I saw it first on the BIG screen in a theater. It was just a total WOW!

Anyway, good riddance. Now it's on to bigger and better projects. You know there's got to be at least a few that will be tied to the coming 50th anniversaries!!

I agree 110%! That surprise cameo was so perfect in its juxtaposition to the cartoon.
