Default Final Beatles concert.

This may have been discussed before, I don't know. I recently purchased online the Beatles Last Concert DVD, which was advertised as the "definitive and rare" footage of their final concert at Candlestick Park in Aug 1966. I was very excited initially that I finally had the last concert footage. Well, I quickly became dissapointed because, apart from a few still, distant, overhead shots, most of this 60 min production is centred around people commemorating the 40th anniversary of this famous event, rather than the concert footage that it claimed to be. Should we assume therefore, that there is no film footage of their last concert available, official or otherwise?

I bought the same video back in the late 80's. I thought it would be the concert and interviews, etc..but alas..its the same one that you have. There is archive footage somewhere and im sure Apple records has it all unless someone in the crowd in san fran taped it.

It depends on whether the complete concert exsists on tape. The audio is extant, save for the last minute, but it may be that the final concert survives only partially on newsreels.

I guess that very few people at the time believed that it would be the final show, so there was no big fanfare grand finale organised. The Beatles themslves thought it would be, being the last concert of that 1966 World/US tour, and the fact that they were tired of the touring and their music was becoming more complex with increasing demand on studio involvement. In fact, I don't even think that Brian Epstein was there, I think he was in LA at the time. And I recall somewhere that were continuous arguments between the stadium manager and the Beatles support van crew over possible damage to the baseball pitch, which just highlighted how amateurish and chaotic their tours were. I just wish that someone at the time was able to tape the whole show. Would've sat wonderfully next to the Shea Stadium and Japan concerts packages.

I have 8/15/1965 at Shea and the Japan concert the summer of 1966. I want the last concert, the Swan Song concert in San Francisco 8/29/1966. I will check eBay.

Washington Coliseum concert is a good, but difficult to find in good quality.

I also like the 20th November 1963 newsreel where there is a performance of "Twist And Shout" and "She Loves You".

My Beatles 1965 Concert Series is an excellent concert series. You even get their Mexico concert!

You might also like Shea Stadium 8/15/1965, but I wish I had 8/23/1966 and their swan song in San Francisco concert dvd!

Shea Stadium is the best concert footage I've seen in terms of visual quality. The 1966 Tokyo concerts are pretty good in sound quality, mainly because of the lack of fan screaming compared to that od Western countries. Such behaviour in public was still considered a no-no in 1960's Japan. Washington Coliseum 1964 is fair quality at best.

But some interesting ones to find if possible, are the return to Hamburg for a concert on the 1966 German Tour, the Phillipines concerts of 1966 where I think they got 100,000 for two shows, even with all the controversy with that country's First Lady, and of-course Candlestick Park 1966.

Well, if we dreaming of a wish list of what concerts we would like to see, I would love to have a film of the Beatles in Boston in 1966, I was there, so it would be even sweeter to me

I'd love to know if they have the entire concert from Australia '64. Along with the clip of "You Can't Do That" (shown in Anthology), I've seen a few other songs from that concert. The video and sound quality are quite good.

I do have a few of those songs from Australia 1964, including You Can't Do That, which I recorded on VHS some time ago. The quality is pretty good compared to a lot of other live Beatles footage around. I hope that the full concert is released on DVD, sooner rather than later.
