L.A. Express was the band that backed George on his 1974 tour.

The LA Express was the name of the band Tom Scott was involved in however the musicians who played on "Dark Horse" - the album - were not the same musicians who toured with George in 1974.
The LA Express as a band was an LA Jazz Funk band, which featured for instance Joe Sample and Larry Carlton. They played on two of Tom Scott's albums.
The LA Express as they played on George's album were only Tom Scott, Roger Kellaway, John Guerin and Max Bennet. Robber Ford at the time of the album recordings was not yet a member of the band LA Express.
The connection to one of the Beatles is that they had been playing with Tom Scott in that period and Tom Scott was a studio musician George got to know via Leon Russel.

Alright maybe I should have done more research or be more specific.
Every answer is right, except ofcourse for Rev's remark.
The LA Express as a band was an LA Jazz Funk band who played on "Hari's Tour" is what I just read. So the connection was first George then later also Paul.
However to keep it simple Esmirelda was first and her answer isn't wrong.
So she gets the point.
