Still learning
I only know four chords. I can't learn any more without getting frustrated. How do I learn more chords?

Re: Still learning
Em and E are both very easy. Like jtal909 said, start with most of the major chords. You'll get used to B7 after enough practice.

Re: Still learning
Yes, a very helpful site! It solved many problems!
Since I'm italian and here we call the notes with different names it was a problem for me reading all those chords with english notes, now I can see where to put my fingers, and it's really good!
Thanks for the link!

Re: Still learning
If you learn E and A, for now you can make any chord you like by using bar chords. You can learn the fancy open chords at the top later once you find it's easier to move your fingers and get them moving quicker. That's what I did, and it's extremely convenient! This way you don't have to remember 1,000,000 chords and you don't have to change your fingers that much. In order to make a seventh, or a minor, it's just as simple as lifting a finger. This also helps with knowing where all the notes are on the neck. The only thing you really have to remember is all the notes on the E string and the A string. I learned all this on my own, and figured out the notes and how to change them, but someone gave me this website for scales and chords and everything. It's really good because it plays the chord for you so you know how it's supposed to sound. It's www.looknohands.com . Hopefully that helps a bit. Good Luck!!

Re: Still learning
it does'nt matter how many chords you learn, your never gonna remember them all anyway. Get a good chord reference book. Practice, practice , practice and more practice is the only way to improve on the guitar. Its very similar to learning how to surf ( for those who have had the chance to try it) . Practice more barre chords , once you've got them down you can play just about any chord , even the dreaded B7.

Re: Still learning
F#m and Bm are also very cool sounding chords and very Beatley.
You should learn those.

Re: Still learning
The simple G7, C7, D7 combination can be used to play the classic, " I'm gonna sit right down and cry ( over you ) from " Live at the BBC." with no sight of the dreaded B7 chord or even the F# minor sus 3 and an added 4th. LOL.

Re: Still learning
Yep, I also love the B7 chord.
And I don't think it is all that difficult to hold. A lot more comfortable than others you sometimes need.

Good! I like it too, it sounds awesome. I wouldn't start barre chords yet, if I were you. It took me a while to get them and they're even less comfortable than B7!

Re: Still learning
Just playing songs in the 'Beatles complete' yesterday and I noticed how many times they used the combination of minor chords such as Gm, C#m, F#m and B7 in songs such as 'You're going to lose that girl', Yes it is, Do you want to know a secret?' and many more. Its just incredible how they managed to put these chord combinations together with the basic chords, ( a,e,d etc ) and come up with amazing songs. That three chord trick with a change in the middle is classic. That is why they have and will be remembered as some of the great song writers of our time.

Re: Still learning
I'm glad your learning. I really didn't find the B7 chord that to horribly hard. I like it actually, as a lot of the others have said.
Another chord I really like is Fm and F#m those are two cool chords.
Damn now you've got me wanting to play guitar... and its like 12 am here lol
:P
Oh well.... as soon as I get up tomorrow.
