With The Beatles Info Please
Hello all.
I was just wondering if any of you kind people who be able to tell me if this is worth hanging on to.
The matrix numbers are:- side 1 = XEX 447-5N & side 2 = XEX 448-7N
I am sorry if this is the exact same record that Joo-Joo Eyeballs was asking about in another thread, but i just noticed that one of the numbers was different to theirs, and wondered if this made any difference?
Many thanks.

The 5-N and 7-N are conflicting numbers. They should be consistent. It appears to be a second press mono but those matrix #s are puzzling.

Hmmm right.
My friend whom i got it off (along with a few other vinyls) yesterday said he thought he bought it a few years ago, cause there was supposed to be something unusual about it (although he couldn't remember what it was). Maybe that is it.
I wonder if this makes it more collectable?
Those are definitely the corrects numbers - i have triple checked them.
I might see if i can get some pics up.

SC, look into the out run groove and see if there's numbers etched in there. I can't recall if WtB did that but that will definitely be your matrix #'s. You may have to get into some light and do some squinting. There's some counterfeiting that happens but very seldom w this album.

Yes CA i can confirm that these numbers (side 1 = XEX 447-5N & side 2 = XEX 448-7N) are etched into the run out groove of the vinyl.

I gotta be honest, I'm stumped on this. It's probably a very early pressing, but which one is confusing. In the meantime, while researching, what's the condition of the record?

Would you like some pictures CA? If you can PM me your email address i'll send some over.
It does have some light scratches, but plays fine, and still has the original inner sleeve.

SC, you definitely have a second pressing from 1963. But you have a bit of an oddity as you have two conflicting matrix no's. Second press mono had three different matrix numbers but they were all consistent w each other. Your album package is complete w the original inner sleeve and looks really good, can't tell tell if there's splits in any seems. Vinyl looks scuffed and smudged w some scratching. Could be photo glare. Play the record and if there's no skips/jumps you may just need a good thorough cleaning.
I doubt that matrix no. inconsistency is significant enough to raise the value. But that's just a guess. There's always the hopeless completest out there that may need it. If the album plays w out distortion after a cleaning and a minimal noise, and the cover and inner sleeve have no splits, it's worth $75-$100.

Many thanks for your info.
Just to let you know that there isn't any spilts in the seems. The photo glare doesn't help, although it does have some minor scratches, but it plays fine.
I'll hang on to it for a while, but it's nice to know it's an 'oddity'. haha!

SC, hanging onto it isn't a bad idea. Vinyl Beatles value is going through the roof. A mono Sgt Pepper I bought 2 yrs ago for $75 just sold for $300. If the vinyl remasters are ever actually released that may effect the demand, but who knows?

Sounds like you got a prospective good deal on your hands if they are identical - oops - and you would be an investor and find the right time unless you prefer to keep it.
