George put it well in 'Cockamamie Business' on Best of Darkhorse 1989.

'Introduced to Bad Company
- lost cells down the Brain Drain....
......In this Cockamamie Business.

Other than that, Rell hit the nail on the head.

I fell in love with the Beatles when i was 10. As time went on and i read what i could get my hands on about them, i was sad to hear that they took drugs. Seeing them in AHDN at the young age i was, i thought they were young and innocent. They seemed such nice lads even my mum and dad liked them.Of course as they progressed as solo artist and reveiwing there later work, it is there for all to see, and they were quite open about it. I must admit i am anti drugs, but for all they faults, they are human, and i can forgive them anything, because without the fab four, the world would have been a sad place without them.Keep on Rocking, Joella.

Very well said. There's really no choice but to vote yes in this poll, as the lads themselves have been quite frank about their drug use. I must admit that if I were in their position, I probably would have succumbed to drug use as well. In fact, I may have not been able to survive the experience of being a Beatle.

I heard (I think it was John) who said that the song "She Said, She Said was about an LSD trip with actor Peter Fonda.

I agree with ringo-rama that this poll was definately pointless.

"I was the first one on coke in The Beatles which horrified the whole group, and I just thought, no sweat. The minute I stopped, the whole record industry has got into it and has never stopped since." - PAUL/Oct'86

"Acid? I must have had a thousand trips...I just used to eat it all the time. I've always needed a drug to survive. The others too, but I always took more pills and more everything 'coz I'm more crazy. Heroin? It was not too much fun...I never injected it or anything." - JOHN/Dec'70

"I admit there are dangers in taking it, but I took it with a deliberate purpose in mind. To find out what the answer to life is all about.
After I took it, it opened my eyes. We only use one-tenth of our brain. Just think what we could all accomplish if we could only tap that hidden part. It would mean a whole new world." - PAUL/'67

"We were looking down into the studio and suddenly George and Paul went over to John and put there hands on his shoulders and brought him up to the control room and said to George Martin 'we don't think John's very well', John suddenly looks up and says "Wow, look at the stars, George..." and this in the control room...George Martin's stood around looking for these stars - Anyway it was obvious to George that John wasn't very well so he took him up onto the roof of Abbey road which had no protection or railings around it, nothing, and left him there. Of course when he came back down and told Paul, George & Ringo what he'd done they flew up the stairs to retrieve John off the roof because he was on a trip." - GEOFF EMERICK

"Up until LSD, I never realised that there was anything beyond this state of consciousness. But all the pressure was such that, like the man (Dylan) said "There must be some kind of way outta here." I think for me it was definitely LSD. The first time I took it, it just blew everything away. I had such an incredible feeling of well-being, that there was a god and I could see him in every blade of grass. It was like gaining 100's of years of experience within 12 hours. It changed me and there was no way back to what I was before. It wasn't all good, because it left a lot of questions as well." - GEORGE/Nov'87

"I just got caught up in that strange belief that if you're creative you have to be brain-damaged. I went through the whole thing whereby I was so deranged I wasn't creative. I was too busy taking stuff to do anything. If you listen to the records you can hear them all going downhill. By 1980 I could not write anymore and I was just that personality person. The only crowd I hung out with were all addicted. If you were straight I wouldn't have you in my house." - RINGO/Jan'91

HOPE THIS VERIFYS THINGS FOLKS!!!

der!!. . . look at it this way, the boys did all those drugs so you don't have to!
it is a well known fact, but they were just a reflection of the times.
hell, even the blandstreetboys have substance abuse probs . . . and they aren't even the beatles!

was this supposed to be a serious topic? anyone that knows anything about the beatles would know the answer.

bob dylan got them into cannabis, and they used to get lsd from 'dr robert' at one stage.

Yes. Paul has explained their burst of creativity by drugs. But I am not so certain it were only the drugs, there has to be something else that hasn't yet come to public(?).

The real question is did the Beatles' drug use inspire you to use as well? And I think that would get a resounding yes from everyone here as well.

Nope! Nope! and Nope! I loved the Beatles music... I admired them as musicians... but I never smoked so much as a single joint in my life.

Saying The Beatles did drugs is like saying Baseball players take steroids...such a thought.
