Animation for the "Yellow Submarine" remake
Animation for the "Yellow Submarine" remake
I don't know how The Beatles will look in the YS remake. Will they 3 be portrayed in 3D computer FX of themselves from the 1968 version ala "Toy Story"? I would rather see them animated as they appear in the "Rock Band" game.

Speaking personally, the mere mention of the word disney in connection to Yellow Submarine, fills me with dread. The original is an animation classic, any remake would just pail in comparison.

I agree with Dee. I think they should just leave it alone.

I'm assuming it will be like Disney's usual animation style. eg: Finding Nemo, etc.

Seeing as how this will be mo-cap, it's not gonna be quite the same as anything Pixar's done like Toy Story or Nemo. But like I've said, Pixar's got 4 other projects right now and are pretty much booked till 2012. I'm none too excited about it either...I can just imagine going into the Disney Store or to a Disney park and seeing Beatles merch there (aside from the UK at Epcot I mean). That'll be weird to say the least.

If Dreamworks does it, I hope they don't look too rubbery like the people in Shrek.

Dreamworks wont do it because they're not affiliated with Disney. Which is good. I'd like Dreamworks doing it even less than Disney doing it.

I would rather they just leave it alone. It seems as if nothing original comes out anymore and they just remake everything.

Yeah, it's planned to be in mo-cap, like Polar Express, like Happy Feet, like the new Christmas Carol movie. (I think that one's in mo-cap. I dont quite remember)

I think there's one really positive thing to come out of this: even if it's not done right by our standards, it will introduce a whole generation of children to The Beatles, who will drag their parents to see this film because it's Disney (or parents will drag their kids because it's Beatles!). The animation will draw the little ones in, and the songs will have them hooked. Rock Band is doing the same thing right now. That can't be bad, can it?

I'm really looking forward to this. It should be out just in time for my little girl to enjoy it- what a fantastic way to start introducing her to the Beatles!
And I like the mo-cap animation.

I dont mind the mo-cap too much. I think its still got things to work out, but that'll probably come with time and practice. I may even end up seeing this Yellow Submarine just to observe it. Unless of course, it looks really bad.

I was just thinking that actually... you've got a point. At first I was suprised they'd even think to remake the movie (why would they want to mess with a classic), but on second thought, why not? It'd be different, and I'm not sure if I personally would prefer the new version better... but all these new opportunities that are coming out to get a new generation interested in the Beatles is great.
