New Tour Announced!
From AbbyRd:
RINGO STARR CONFIRMS 9th ALL STARR SUMMER TOUR 2006, PRODUCED BY HOUSE OF BLUES®
ALL STARRS WILL INCLUDE ROD ARGENT, MARK HUDSON, RICHARD MARX AND BILLY SQUIER WITH SHEILA E AND MARK RIVERA RETURNING
Wednesday, March 8, 2006, Los Angeles, CA – This summer is guaranteed to be a little more rocking now that Ringo Starr has confirmed the details for his upcoming 9th All Starr Band. The tour, produced by House of Blues®, will kick off in Canada at Casino Rama on June 14 and end in New York City on July 20 at Radio City Music Hall. The 9th All Starr Band will feature new All Starr's (in alphabetical order) Rod Argent (Zombies), Mark Hudson (Ringo’s writing partner and producer from that other band, no not that one!, the other other one – the Roundheads), Richard Marx, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter with the fabulous Sheila E returning on drums/percussion and band leader and saxophonist Mark Rivera.
The All Starr show is “the best 1-800-band on the road,” (as Ringo always says), where each of All Starrs take turns singing their greatest hits: “With A Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Photograph”, “It Don’t Come Easy,” "Hold Your Head Up," “Don’t Mean Nothin,” “Free Ride,” “The Stroke,” “Everybody Wants You,” and “Glamorous Life.”
Ringo and His All Starrs exude the love, joy and phenomenal playing that shine from the Starr at the center. The shows draw fans of all ages and sizes…parents and their kids come to enjoy a summer night out with fantastic music, performed by musicians who love to play. As Ringo recently said in an interview: “I just have a great time, and that's the rhythm of my heart and my soul.”
The full itinerary will be announced shortly, and in the meantime fans can look for updates on: www.ringostarr.com.

Richard Marx and Billy Squier???? Oy. Of course, I'll probably suffer through them to be able to see Ringo and Mark, but...seriously...Richard Marx and Billy Squier?????

So glad someone besides me wonders who that is.
I'll probably want to cover my head in shame after I say this, but I kind of like Richard Marx. Hey, what can I say... I'm a child of the 80's.
Too bad the rumor that Leon Russell might be joining the All Starr's this time around turned out to be only a rumor. That would have been interesting!

Richard Marx is that that guy who had a few hits in the 80's. What was that ballad of his. No idea either who Billy Squier is.
I still think he should put aside the all star concept for awhile and tour with the roundheads.

"I Will Be Right Here Waiting for You?"
Billy Squire had sort of rock ballads in the early '80's. His videos were some of the first shown on MTV in '81.
I'd be glad to see Ringo--he probably won't come here, tho.

I saw Sheila E. when she was the drummer for Prince.......good drummmer and more importantly, easy on the eyes! She is from Oakland and her father was a percussioniost for Santana. She has toured with the late great Marvin Gaye, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie and others. She has had a few hits, 'The Glamorous Life' (#7 on the pop charts-1984) and 'A Love Bizaarre' (#11-1985), a duet with Prince.
Billy Squier - Born in the Boston area. Had hits with The Stroke', 'My Kind of Lover', 'In The Dark', 'Everybody Wants You', 'Rock Me Tonight' and 'Emotions in Motion'.
Rod Argent was born in the U.K. and was the keyboardist-voclist for the Zombies. Had hits with 'She's Not There', 'Tell Her No' and 'Time of the Season'.
Edgar Winter was born in Texas and is Johnny Winters younger brother. Had hits with 'Frankenstein' (#1-1972) and 'Free Ride' (#14-1973). One claim to fame is they played on the final night of New York Cities legendary 'Fillmore East'.

Just to let all you Brits know that I had a dream last night in which on one of his updates, Ringo announced his UK tour and all of the dates. The update was from June 7th (incidentally the first anniversary of Choose Love being released) and he was going to play in about 10 places including Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle (those are the only ones I can remember). So on June 7th make sure you check the updates page to see if it was a preminition or just wishful thinking.

To be honest I don't think he has a big enough fan base in the Uk to sell all the tickets........

That's groovy! I totally dig it! I wanna see Ringo live! Then I could at least claim to have seen the two living Beatles live in concert.
My life could be complete.

You are correct but one or two venues would be enough to satisfy the fans. He doesnt seem to bother.

I saw Ringo when he played over here in 1997, I can't remember if the venue was sold out or not, but it was prety full. I think if he chose his venues carefully and spread them around he'd do okay, but I don't see it happening too near in the future, unfortunately.

I hope Ringo plays somewhere close enough that it would be feasible for me to go see him. I've seen Paul in concert three times now, but have never seen Ring. Please please hit Columbus!!!
