Based on Wiki software which allows multiple on-line users to submit and edit shared content, the Beatles Story aims to make this the number 1 site for all Beatles resources.
"The Beatles Story has spent the past 12 months developing the website," says Beatles Story Director, Jerry Goldman. "We experience numerous questions and enquiries about The Beatles, which gave us the idea to create a shared pool of information - and most importantly the Beatles Story Wiki is free to use and fully accessible to a world wide audience."
The Beatles Story Wiki is a combination of written content, images, sound recordings and live interviews. The Wiki allows fans to 'get under the skin' of The Beatles and learn more about the Liverpool they grew up in. The Beatles Story are currently developing the site to cover The Beatles' lives from 1957-1963.
Most recently, the Beatles Story Wiki has gained the approval of Joe Flannery, the Beatles first bookings manager who has been assisting with the project. "Joe has been a delight to work with," according to Marketing Manager, Janine Ross. "His personal recollections of his time with The Beatles are priceless and we now have the opportunity to share his fascinating tales with fans worldwide. I like to think of the Beatles Story Wiki as more of a 'virtual museum' - enlightening and educating fans old and new."
Andy Abram from New Mind, the internet consultancy behind the programming comments, "This is an exciting phase in the development of the Beatles Story web site. The marketing team at the attraction were keen to adopt the latest technologies such as Wiki, both to keep the site at the forefront of Internet technology and more importantly, to provide a very useful and interesting feature for users. We are looking forward to seeing the results."
The Beatles Story Wiki is now open to submissions from the general public. "It is essential Beatles fans across the world help us build the encyclopaedia so the legacy of The Beatles can be shared for years to come," said Janine.
