Sir Paul will be subbing for Curt Cobain in Nirvanas performance during tonights 12/12/12 concert. This is very puzzling to me since Paul enunciates his lyrics perfectly while Cobain was a mumbler!
What on earth? I love Paul and think he's Superhuman, but first of all, why are they calling it a Nirvana performance without Kurt?
I know that Paul is friends with David Grohl; and while I like the idea of Grohl and Novoselic reuniting and doing something, I object to them calling it "Nirvana."
On another note: cue Courtney Love's exploding head.
oh i'm not really questioning the choice..just a wrong photo job that's all.
still don't see why they want to bill it as Nirvana??
same as saw an ad on the TV today and said the Who and shows a late 60s photo..why?
they didn't learn when they asked Keith to come to the 2012 summer games?
Can't stand Nirvana (or Foos for that matter). They were just a bunch of waster musicians.
Wish Grohl would stop acting like he's rock royalty these days - hanging around Lemmy, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, McCartney, Tom Petty, etc. - he's just a drummer and guitarist, and not very good at either.

update shit that's all.
gk.
well i got to eat a little crow after this statement...they did a good job of including Keith and think the Who set was a pretty good one...
I actually really like Nirvana, but that definitely didn't feel like a Nirvana reunion to me... it was probably good publicity to build up the idea though, get people interested. I agree having Paul sub for Cobain was an interesting choice, but I really liked the song they collaborated on! Oh to say you had the honor of writing with Sir Paul McCartney...

Most of that show was very entertaining and I made a donation. I went to bed early but I recorded it and watched some of the later acts and Paul this morning. By my estimation, Paul must've gone on at say, maybe 11:30 (would be 12:30 a.m. Eastern US time)? I loved Paul's set list also; good choices. His band is wonderful and I'm glad he's still with the same crew!!
I liked Nirvana too but weren't my favorite 90s act. What JohnnyMain said made me laugh; yes, Grohl is really a networker isn't he? I kinda liked some early Foos and I think his drumming was/is strong. Anyway Dave has a lot of character and the energy in his act takes him a long way. I think he also gets a lot of "Dark Horse" points b/c when Kurt committed suicide everyone thought Dave or Krist would just disappear. So for Dave to have endured and really reinvent his act (no longer angry, but hey, happy go lucky, LOL) people I guess respect that.

Dave saying taking a FF break but hopes to tour with TCV with JPJ and the other dude..never can remember his name or the band he is from..never really got into them...FF are ok, really like a few of their songs.
Especially the one Glen Campbell covered...it's a great song..pretty good no matter who covers..hell i can sing it , and it's a great song..may sound like crap but it would still be a good song.
BTW..i think i shared this before..but maybe not..new artists..new releases..all legal, all free..BUT tips are welcome..samplers available..if a recording artist see about getting on board..
i have found some decent music to listen to here..sorry if not an mp3 fan..but a way to check it out and go buy the real deal..maybe one day this mp3 and the loudness wars will all go away and we can actually hear things to the extent that is actually on the recordings the artists make and what they are hearing when they say OK that's a final take...Neil Young is not crazy..there is a difference.
My first impression of the "reunion", having only seen it once, was "meh". Not a great riff, no recognizable melody. And frankly I feel like it's a chore to go back and listen to it again.
They didn't call it Nirvana... it was billed as "Dave Grohl and Friends." Paul's the one who called it a "Nirvana reunion," but I think he was just referring to their previous jam session.

best part of the song to me...when it was over..
Oh, I dug it... was really bummed they only did one song, in fact. It was only kinda Nirvana-y and not typical Macca, but it was pretty funky and I thought it rocked.

I enjoyed the "rave up" at the end of the song where Paul ad-libbed and "whooped." I found it interesting that the "Grohl and Friends" song had no real verse-chorus-bridge structure and after the song, Paul played "I Got A Feeling." Paul is a pretty sharp guy, LOL.

if you felt this way the other night..watch the SNL performance.
